I'm looking for recommendations on who I can trust to repair and paint my wheels for my Vantage (black one you've probably seen at WC C&C a few times now.) There's minor curb rash on a couple of them, but overall they are in good shape. However, I want the paint job to be done well, and last for a long time.

Anyone near me that I should trust with my wheels?

On a side note, I'm still not sure of the color. Can't decide between black, bronze, or a dark red. First image is my car, second is the wheels that I'm switching back to. Thoughts?

Cavallo Auto Body on 202 just did a set of SL 55 wheels for a friend of mine that turned out great. PM me if you want their contact info, they will not be the most economical. Full disclosure my Dad owns the business.

We do it in house here, but also use Cavallo for our body needs, wouldn't have anyone else touch the cars we work on. I prefer to powdercoat them as it is much more durable and just as many color options.

Nick, can you guys do real magnesium wheels. I understand they are more difficult.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.

I'll probably start with Oaks since they are so close to me. Like I said this is probably a winter project, but I'll be in touch soon. Might want some other work from you guys as well.

I'm hesitant to powder coat them since the heat can weaken certain wheels. Not much info online about the construction, so I figured paint was a safe choice.

As for the color, Aston did offer them in this dark gray color, and I like that. Black would probably look nice, too. I'm leaning in this direction, but I still think bronze would look good.

FWIW, Oakes refurbished and powder coated the 40 year old wire wheels on my MGB and did a fantastic job.

Sports Car Tire in Wilmington has refinished three sets of vintage wheels for me. Excellent work.

Well I ended up at Sports Car Tire in DE and the end result turned out quite nice. Black powder coat looks good, and they were able to repair the majority of the damage to the OEM wheels (where the hell did the first owner drive this car?!)

Definitely makes the red calipers pop now, and looks a bit more masculine. What does everyone think?

The black wheels look awesome on your car.. The red calipers really set it off.. Nice choice.. Just make sure that you never use any harsh wheel cleaners, or wheel acid on those wheels with the powder coated finish. I would just use car wash soap with warm water with a lambswool wash mitt to clean them, then dry them with a chamois.. Sports car tire does exceptional work!

Thanks. I'll definitely be more careful washing these wheels now. Don't want to mess them up.
