    Route 29 Batman is killed after his batmobile breaks down along a Maryland highway - The Washington Post

    The Route 29 Batman, whose roadside encounter with Montgomery County police three years ago made him a viral sensation around the world, has died.

    Lenny B. Robinson, the Maryland man who drove a black Lamborghini and dressed as Batman to visit sick children in hospitals, was apparently struck by a car on I-70 Sunday night near Hagerstown after his batmobile broke down. He was coming home from a car show in West Virginia.

    Maryland state police said Batman had engine trouble. He’d gotten out of the car to check the problem when the batmobile was struck by a truck. The batmobile then hit him.

    The world discovered Batman in 2012, after he was pulled over in Silver Spring in his Lamborghini and full super hero costume on his way to visit sick children.

    Incredibly tragic. He seemed to do so much for sick kids. Looks like he had three children of his own.

    Be careful everyone.

    What a great person. I remember how funny that video was at first...and how touching his story became when we learned the details.

    He will be missed.

    This is so sad. Folks like this don't come along often enough. Such a loss.
    I posted this pic in the spotters thread in Aug 2012. It was good knowing Batman was close by and helping out sick kids.

    Robinson’s funeral will be at noon Wednesday in Owings Mills, Md., at the Har Sinai Congregation, 2905 Walnut Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be made to Superheroes for Kids, c/o Marilyn Richardson of Sinai Hospital, 2401 W. Belvedere Ave., Baltimore, MD 21215.

    Terrible. His son has been bf with my friends daughter for several years. They all went to the funeral today.
