I live in Virginia but I got asked a MD License Plate question.

Can the FCA-MAR MD plates be used for a vintage Ferrari?
The MVA is saying that to transfer a MAR plate, or to buy a new MAR plate, the car has to be inspected.

The owner has an older Ferrari that qualifies for a vintage plate and doesn't want to do the inspections.
Anyone know if this can be done, that is, use a MAR plate on a vintage car (with no inspections)?

Ron - "Historic" tags in MD are NOT available through organizations. I tried to do this with University of FL plates on my TR. No dice. Had to use one of the standard plates to get the benefits.

This is also why I never did the original FCA plates - you know, the one with the "good" logo. ;) :D

The historic plates are the old style white and black though which is good.

    Thanks For the info Curtis.

Virginia has both Historic and Vintage plates. The historic plates are the black ones. The vintage ones are white and have the year on them. I have a pair of 1965 plates on my 65 Corvette. I used the term "vintage" in my MVA question to mean either type.

As far as the "good logo", agree, those older MD plates are collector items now. All new ones will have the circular logo on them with the Cavallino in the circle.

All are correct about the Historic Plates in MD being black and white.

You can also use any old vintage plate to match the year of your car if you register it with the MVA.

So, if you have a 1966 car, you can use a vintage 1966 plate which may be a color that matches your paint.

MD had a campaign that ended on Dec 31, 2014. It was a limited run of historic plates in yellow. I have one as it goes well with the paint.
