I recently found out about this museum and made a stop after I checked out McLaren of Philadelphia. All I can say is WOW! I thought seeing a McLaren F1 LM at the dealership was incredible...this place blew it out of the water!

They have EVERY important car ever made essentially...the 250 GTO was recently on display in Nashville and is on its way back next week.

Dr. Simeone took out one of his Alfas (he's the one driving it) and the Type 35 Bugatti made a run as did another Alfa (not pictured).

Yeah, it's a pretty low key museum and in a small industrial complex area next to the airport so it's hard to come by if you're on I-95 driving along.

The Don Garlits museum near Ocala, FL is right next to I-75 (literally like 20 feet from the road) and has billboards pointing it out leading up to it. The Barber Motorsports museum ("World's largest motorcycle museum") in Leeds, AL is somewhat hidden, but it's off I-20 and they have a ton of billboards along the roads there. Plus, they have one of their Lotus F1 cars and Suzuki race bikes at the Birmingham Airport baggage claim making it really hard to miss.

Any real car guy who lives within 100 miles of Philly should go at least once. I was lucky enough to see the collection before it moved to the airport, when it was still in a multi story building in S. Philly.

    Really a great place.

I was there a few months ago when the 250 GTO was still there. Fantastic museum with lots of history there.

I went to see the McLaren F1 LM as well, and it was stunning.

Had a wedding in Philly Saturday night, so hit the Simeone Museum Sunday afternoon. Missed the GTO...it's still not back, but here's another shot of the TR, plus a Jag SS100 and a blower Bentley

. Interesting that all the cars Dr. Simeone collects have a competition history. The Cobra Daytona Coupe pictured earlier (introduced in a nice video by Pete Brock) broke a number of records set by the Bugatti "Tank"...also in the collection. Some of the earlier stuff...man, talk about balls of steel.

    Rollcage? Seatbelt?
    Har.

(I give. Tried 3x to get the TR to load properly...)

Nice shots! Glad you could make it out there. Erik (Peloton25) found that the car is on a cargo pallet at Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson airport. Hopefully it gets back to Philly for others to enjoy. :)

Apparently the 250 GTO is for sale at Talacrest for $56 million. Guess it was at ATL on its way to the UK... Wish I could've seen it while it was still in Philly. :(

Just saw this thread - had the good fortune to visit last month and ended up writing a story about it:

    https://view.publitas.com/fitzhugh-media/southwest-star-magazine-2016-4th-quarter/page/62-63

Stopped by on a Friday and pretty much had the place to myself for 3 hours. Some really extraordinary cars and stories. Most cars would be a feature in any car collection or concours. It is a mandatory visit, but do yourself the favor of spending time on their website at some point as well. Each car has a narrative about the model and also how Dr. Simeone acquired the car. All are runners and original patina is preserved - no over-restored museum queens here.

Yes - from some guy called Chinetti. That guy must know something about vintage Ferraris because there is another one there from him too. This one is a 1959 250GT Interim Berlinetta - one of 7 made - that finished 6th at LeMans:
