I don't recognize the car, but I hope that all involved are ok. ***edit*** For some reason the photo will not attach.
Owner didn't post anything... passenger was posting details. Everyone but the car is ok. Supposedly they swerved to hit a deer. Mobilized reply by Dahveedem
Was not on 495. Was on Georgetown Pike. Passenger said on Facebook that they swerved to try and avoid a deer, though not clear if they hit it before hitting a tree. Photo here is from the passenger. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hit the deer for lords sake! They missed the 120 lb deer in favor of hitting a fully rooted and immobile tree? The deer will always do less damage that a tree....
the door damage has me concerned? at what point did it get ripped away? was the driver exposed as a result of the crash or was the door ripped away by the emergency attendees? glad driver and passenger are okay!!
A Highway patrol officer once told me the worst thing you can hit with your car is a horse. The reason is the horse body falls straight into the windshield and usually pushes it into the cockpit killing the passengers. I imagine a deer would do the same. Instincts are what they are. Somethings you just don't have a chance to think about.
I've killed three this way. It's amazing what happens. One was with an XJR. Cut it in half with half going through and out a one ft hole in the grill area. Never forget it, I just drove a few miles home parked, to bed didn't even look at it till morning.
+1 This local guy was very lucky as this horse ended up aimed more toward the passenger side. https://www.google.com/amp/s/wvtm.relaymedia.com/amp/article/car-collides-head-on-with-horse-in-mccalla-1/3834682
It is amazing how quick hitting a dear could be. I hit one with my porsche turbo.. Deer it me, leaned on the front glass and ran off. Didnt even have a chance to break!. Always thought little old people hit dear due to their slow reaction time. Previous thread was correct. Luckily it didnt come into the car....Tree, deer, and winding one lane road.... luck to be alive!
Scariest moment of my life was having a deer run across the road in front of me while on a motorcycle. I never saw it till it was halfway across the road. No time to react. Had I been going just a little faster, it would have gotten very messy.
Same story here, I hit the brakes, all I saw was mangy hide in front of me, must have missed me by inches. the deer are pest like large mice and just as stupid. We have removed nearly all predators, and created golf courses and subrban lawns perfect clearings for deer to feed. It is estimated that current deer populations are 10X what they were 250 years ago. Whats needed is some sustained hunting, that will reduce the populations to safe levels and scare off the survivors from human areas.
