I know the second to last owner of the Shah's Miura (purple/white interior - what was he thinking) and also where a 300SL Gullwing which belonged to a late general and sits in California now.

Hi,

Here are a couple of pictures of the cars you mentioned. Sorry for being incommunicado, however have had a lot on my plate. Any information on these cars would be very, very appreciated.

Tehran Cafe Racers

Hi,

This picture is from a face book site called the Historical cars of Iran. The picture shows the two cars arriving in Europe after apparently driven straight out of Iran. Many cars received temporary transit plates from the local touring club, never to return.

We know of two Gullwings. The first is still in Iran, the second is apparently in Australia after being bequeathed to the Shah's English doctor.

This is the Gullwing which is in Iran and a 300sl which was in Saad Abad Palace. The 300 sl was apparently brought back by Princess Ashraf from Monaco before being given as a present to the former crown prince. Apparently he proceeded to put Momo steering wheel on it to make it more 'sporty'. The innocence of youth. The picture is from one of our past classic cars shows.

Best Regards,

Ramin

Hi,

One of the reasons I put this threadt is that we have a car community that keeps their cars running in circumstances that would sometimes deter others. If you think you can show just what a great and vibrant community we have, all the more to you. Just one request. In some of the pics I have named the photographer. It would be freat if they could get recognition for their pictures.

Many Thanx,

Ramin

Iran Classica 2017

Hi,

On 14 to 18, February 2017 we held the Iran Classica 25, meaning it was our 25th show since the Classic Vehicle Committee of the Motorcycle and Automobile Federation of Iran (MAFIRI) was founded in 1996.

The show was held concomitant with the first Auto Show in Tehran to be held in eleven years. As we held the show concomitant with the Auto Show, instead of our usual Concours Type shows, we decided to also incorporate practical classics to show that entry into the hobby did not mean high figure cars. So while we had Porsche 356, Shelby et al we also had an immaculately restored e12 BMW, an all original Renault 5 etc.

Here is another shot of the 190 SL.

Regards, Ramin

Hi,

These two Mercs traveled over 11,000 KM round trip from Tehran to Berlin and back in 2011 for the 125 year anniversary of Mercedes. The fact that they only needed gasoline and the regular oil change is a testament.

Ramin

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up. For the pictures of the show which I am now posting, they were taken by yours truly, but you can just go with Tehran Cafe Racers.

Hi,

Continuing with the show, what we had done is to divide the show by allocating space to each of our clubs. Our Mercedes Club, which is also officially recognized by Daimler in Germany, not only featured the 190sl and the Germany-Iran trip cars, but also more run of the mill practical classics so as to attract more people to the hobby, especially as Iran is pushing end of life legislation.

Best Regards,

Ramin

Hi,

This blue 350sl really stood out. The owner brought it all the way from the Northeastern city of Mashad.

Hi,

Following Mercedes, the obvious next choice would be to visit the pavilion of the BMW Club of Iran.

The first picture is an 02 with original paint and 50,000 original km. That is club President and owner Mohammad Bardide in the picture.

Regards,

Ramin
