    Hi all,
I wanted to mention that I still have toggles for the roof latch's and now have latch cleats. Attached are pictures of the toggles.

I will post pictures of the roof cleats soon. (The roof cleat is the piece that is mounted to the top of the windshield.)

The cleats are machined out of a solid piece of high strength aluminum and the hard coat black passivated. They are very strong and will not break.

Let me know if your interested.

Ron, I purchased your toggle replacements quite some time ago, and installed on on my extra
latch and kept it in the car. Well last week i was out driving and it started to rain, when I went to put the top up what do you know the original broke, within two minutes and two screws later it was fixed a lifesaver. Thank You

    GREAT NEWS!

I wish you had the cleats last year when I got my car. The original cleat was DOA.

What are you going to be asking for the cleats/latch combo?

Rachel is already covered as regards the Frohock toggle issue. What's with the cleat? How does it go DOA? More (necessary) things for me to buy for Rachel !!! :) Goodie!~!!

    Cheers all,

    Hank

When I got the car one of the cleats was broken in half. Thankfully, the dealer foot the bill for a new set. The cleat is a crappy piece of what looks like die cast metal!. I was not remotely impressed with the quality of the material and presumed it to be the weakspot in the assembly. It is only through this board that I learned the toggles stink as well. Out of curiosity, how difficult is it to build a quality latch on a car of this caliber! Thankfully we have people like Ron to come to the rescue.

    Hi Ron,
Our cleats are getting pretty worn. I might be interested in your aluminum ones but wouldn't they wear over time also? Could they be made from stainless steel or is that overkill?

You are correct, the originals were cast aluminum which is soft and porous. The aluminum that I have used is actually very hard and the finish is hard coat anodized so it shouldn’t wear.

I look forward to having some help in evaluating these. I have only made a total of six so far. In the event that they do show wear and or fail, I will quickly change to a different material like stainless, and send out replacements.

As it is now, aluminum is less expensive from a material cost and also for machining.
I am offering the cleats for $85.00 each which is the same cost as the toggles.

    Thanks
    - Ron

I agree with Art. Quality replacement product and you are the go to guy for these. I would only encourage a steady supply to Ricambi or someone as that good.
