My pristine Mondial T coupe is going to get a new set of 355 wheels to make it look like a more modern ride. I tried to enter the car in the Pineherst NC classic show in the preservation category and she was rejected. So what the hell, I might as well make it look like I want it to. Spacers, bolts, and tires are on order. Wheels are on the way. Pictures to follow when the deed is done.
    Bob

Original wheels will be kept with the original muffler for those future owners who want to keep it all original.

Good for you, can't wait to see pics. Why was it rejected at Pinehurst?

Rejected? Too new so not considered a "classic"?

Yes, 355 wheels look perfect on a t but I don't recall seeing them on a t Coupe.

EDIT: I found this in my files, supposedly they are 512 TR wheels.

Heh...that's my GT4 there in the background. Couple o' Fchatters in that picture, actually! I somewhat remember that gathering. Of the 43 (or whatever) T coupes in the US, we had 3 of 'em side-by-side-by-side in a San Jose shopping center parking lot. Go figure!

While scanning an older thread showing wheels on Mondials I saw this photo. It looks like a Mondial T but the front end is totally different. Does anyone know the story about this car?

Wow. Definitely a T but with a 355 front bumper? What was he thinking???? Wheels are nice though.

There are several posts on this car...

While the 355 front end is interesting it's reminiscent of botox treatments. ;)

However, it does seem to amplify the "curves" of the Mondial t, in this photo anyway.

I am surprised that the 355 front fits so well - would not want it on my car but it does not look like a hack job.

Bought a set of 355 wheels on ebay. Bought the required spacers and bolts. Ordered a new set of tires. Received 3 wheels from FedEx - shipper sent 4. FedEx can't find the 4th. I have spent $2500 for the wheels, $860 for the spacers and bolts, and made a small deposit for the tires. I am pissed. The three wheels are beautiful but I already have a three legged dog and don't need a three wheeled car.

It is low, it just does not look it in this photo because the rocker area is black.

Look closely boys - - and we see that the entire front had a rounding out treatment to the corners. This of course, to match the the more rounded 355 bumper.

I wouldn't do it with my Rachel, but I must say that IMHO, it was beautifully done.

    Cheers, Hank

Our T cars are so low to begin with, any lower and we'd never get out of the driveway ! :)

This saga is not over. I left the car to have the wheels installed and came back to find the parking lights on and the light switch not working properly. Its loose and now does nothing. My mechanic will check it out this afternoon. More to follow...

    OMG - - Robert !!!!

    You "left" the car ?????

Parking lights and wheels swaps have nothing in common. They were playing around.

    Sorry mate,

    Dang, sorry to hear that.

And that's exactly why I hauled the wheels down to the tire shop in the back of my Jeep instead.

However, the tire tech scratched and gouged one of the wheels. :(

I took the new rims to the tire shop and carried them inside so no damage to the new rims. The tires were ordered from the shop so that they would balance them, install new valve stems, mount the wheels and spacers. I left the car in their parking lot and went to lunch so that I didn't have to wait 2 hours. Came back after lunch to find the car in the bay with its lights on and the light switch not working properly. My mechanic confirmed what I already knew - the switch on the steering column was broken because someone forced the light switch handle and broke the plastic innards of the switch. New switch will cost $500 plus labor. Will confront the shop with the final bill. Love the look and can easily go back to original if necessary or for resale. I have had a lot of Ferraris but this is on the top of my favorite list. Mondials are definitely under rated.

Nice look, Bob. Just saw your post. I just found a set of 512 wheels for my TR. Going to give it a minor facelift. How did the errant shop handle the broken switch bill, etc? Jeff and Judi
