I'm in Vegas at the Wynn hotel. Went to check out the Ferrari store and they wanted a ten dollar admission....unless you already own a Ferrari. Can I deduct that from my cost of ownership, lol.

They had a blue 308 GTB and a red Mondial T in the service area. Everything else was very new. I don't know if I'm crazy but the new stuff doesn't do it for me. Sure, I'll take one Id they are handing them out but I love Enzo era models. Give me a Daytona or even a Dino please. So classic and elegant. The modern stuff looks to over engineered to me.

How would they know if you own one or not? Did you have to show proof?

Lucky you had it. Why on earth would they charge for entrance to the store? Never heard anything so ridiculous. All other countries I've visited the Ferrari stores have been free, just like a normal store.

Last time I went to FoQ I also thought the same about all the newer cars. There was a 550 and is the one that I took time to look a bit more.

From what I have read, a few years back when the Wynn opened, it was free. This isn't just any store, it has a museum part to it with some really nice cars on display. The $10 charge was put into place to decrease the volume through the store. They're really not interested in having a ton of people come in and take pictures. The store itself is more like a trophy, as in "we so great, we even have a Ferrari store!".

If someone is really a car nut and wants to get up close, take a peek and take some pics, then $10 isn't anything. Especially compared to what people spend just down the hall in the casino.

It's not really a standard "to do" list item for visitors (like the volcano at Mirage, the fountains at Bellagio, etc...) But if you're curious, it's there only at the Wynn.

Interesting, I would stop by and try to convince the store attendant to let me in as a Ferrari owner dangling my keys in his face.

    Cheers

They asked for registration which I didn't have with me. They accepted pictures. I have many on my phone.

Anyone can enter the gift shop for free, but they had to do regulate admission for the showroom or it would always be flooded with crowds. Foot traffic is huge near the store being only a few meters from the main casino floor. They are fairly easy to convince if you own a Ferrari, I've never had to show proof of ownership personally.
Great dealer by the way, their service staff is one of the best around. Make sure to visit downstairs, that's where the older stuff is.

I think we should get F-Chat cards or maybe Rob could invent a secret handshake that only members would know and work something out with Wynn. :)

nice! now that doesn't work here in Europe :( in fact you need to have a membership club card to get discount in the Ferrari store or a factory visit pass for Ferrari Stores in Maranello.

I just showed my key - that was it for me and 5 guests.

It was pretty underwhelmingly - definitely not worth (it would have been $60) in my case.

For free - for sure. As others stated - it's basically just a crowd control measure.

Seeing "what it is and where it is", I totally support Wynn's position. Their "venue" is not on a boulevard in anytown USA. It's on the Las Vegas strip, in a major gambling casino situated smack in the middle of more daily "people on vacation" craziness per given meter, than anywhere else on earth.

    Think about it. :):)

    Cheers, Hank

Indeed - if it was open it would have crowds in and out - the upkeep itself would be miserable.

"It's ten dollars to come in sir."

    "I have a Ferrari."

"I see, do you have any proof?"

"Sure, here's my key, and here's a pic of my 1983 Mondial."

"1983 Mondial?!?! SECURITY! SECURITY TO THE FERRARI STORE FOR A MONDIAL OWNER!"

    muuaaaaahahhahahahahhaaaaa

hahaha - I got to say - I wear the stigma of "Mondial" as a badge of honor. I enjoy being part of a cult following!

I also love the GT4 - here is a beautiful one on eBay
