Hi All, I want to fabricate the engine cradle that is listed in the repair manual. Does anyone have this that they can pull dimensions from or specs?

    Thanks

Looks like it won't be complicated. I got under the car and will just fabricate something.

Thank you for the picture Tijn. Not what I was planning on building, I was going to use 1.5 inch box steel, and just make a flat box to fit under the side, front and rear frame of the engine cradle. I'll rethink that a bit. Maybe someone will have an additional picture? Did the other end have the curved support spots as well? Was it at the same level?

Progress. I'm going to have a great coffee table except for a month every few years. :D

But I can't decide glass or wood for the top.

    Very nice!

Maybe some butcher-block wood? Then it can serve as a low-height work bench.

I like the butcher block idea.

Now in an appropriate factory color :D

But as my brother says, "that is all well and good, but when is the engine going to be sitting on it?" That will probably be several weeks. Although I did finish fabricating the down riggers (as I call them) to bolt to the back of the frame after engine removed for moving the car after the rear is dropped. I'll get pics of those before too long.

Yes they are. With the 4 post lift I have to hang the back of the car off the lift to get the subframe out. The car will be sticking out of the garage so I need the wheels to push the car sans engine subframe/rear wheels back fully onto the lift for storage. Technically I could put the car elsewhere but don't have a better place. They are likely taller than the factory tool as I designed them to keep the car level with the front wheels on the rack and those small wheels on the ground between the racks. I'll certainly get a picture of them installed when the time comes.

The factory repair manual discusses both 2 post and 4 post lift processes so I feel relatively safe with this procedure. It does say to secure front wheels to ramps. It would be unfortunate for someone to lean on the back of the car and have it fall off the lift :D

I should probably update this for history to show that my welds did not fall apart.

I am most certain the outriggers are not what the factory intended after looking at more pics and the function of the ones I made. I think they should go on the outboard mounts and go outward to fall within the track of the vehicle. That would make them fall on the ramps for the 4 post. As it was I had to take 2X12 lumber that we had and keep advancing the wood and the car incrimentally forward to get the main body of the car over the lift and no longer hanging off the back of the lift. Not fun.
