Ran across this, thought black over red is pretty rare, so this is a PSA: San Jose Used Cars | BMW | Porsche | Mercedes | 408-205-4567 Regards, Jerry

Pristine condition on the outside. Very nice Mondial indeed! Price seems fair, once that combo doesn't come along every day. Should the car be in perfect running order and with complete history/accessories, it's a great deal. Kind regards, Nuno.
I'll defer to the expertise here but I thought it was a bit over priced even if everything checked our service wise. I've spoken to my indie repair shop and to do a full engine out with all service could run up to $12k. Does that service price sound right? Btw does anyone know of a place near this dealer that can do a PPI on this car?
I think there are a few factors to take into consideration here. If you love that color combo, then that should add some value to the equation, because you wont see another anytime soon. An engine-out major service could range from $5k-12k depending on what is needed. If it needs a belt service, you are more likely to spend around $5k at any indy shop. If you need belts, a clutch, fuel lines, coolant hoses, intake manifold recoated, etc, etc- then you are closer to $12k. I think that if services are up to date, its worth the asking price. I think that if it needs a major service, talk to the seller after doing your homework, explain that a Ferrari is all about the maintenance history regardless of the appearance, and make an offer accordingly. Remember, there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari.
Great color combo. A couple of small issues: The boot for the convertible top should be red, and the engine bay has a few non-Ferrari parts such as the gas cap. If the engine-out service was recent, and there are no major issues, the price is fair. People are so used to seeing Mondial prices south of $20k that they scoff at anything over $40k.
If I lived in California I'd be tempted to trade both of mine (Mondial 3.2 Coupe & 348ts) for this t Cab.
For me it has everything to do with the weather/climate. Out there, put the top down and leave it that way.
Guys, I'll say it again - - all these "fear" $ numbers regarding an engine out major service, are simply that - "fear". In actuality, a full on engine out for a T is about $1,600 more than the EQUAL service for a 3.2. The price goes up for both models, as the need for "additional" fixes arise. Understanding this dynamic, is vitally important as regards our ability to know what is real and what is BS. Don't forget - - a major service is just that - - "a scheduled service, not a repair". If "repairs" are added to the invoice, it matters not what model you own. Your final "service" bill can reach or even exceed $12,000 - - - in the time frame of a sneeze!! And then there's the "while we're at it" approach. Those "major service" costs will go up faster than my fever did when I had the Hong Kong flu !!! Cheers, Hank
Wow, I checked this car out in person back in ... Hmm, lemme see...I think March of this year. At the time, it was listing for 39K. Beautiful car, presents very well, although the leather has a bit more patina that shows up in the photos. It was overdue for a major, and maybe they went ahead and did it, hence the price increase. The thing is, the car was on consignment, so the dealer did not have much discretion on the price. The sales manager confided to me that if it was his to sell (or if he thought the owner would agree) he would have sold it to me for 29K, done-deal and walk away. Because of the unique and beautiful color, I was willing to go as high as 34K, and swallow the major on top of that, but the owner wouldn't budge. Since we were so far apart, I didn't even end up test-driving the car. About six weeks later, I ended up by an '85 308 instead. Gorgeous, highly original car, with a fresh major and documentation from day one. As much as I am enjoying it, I still think occasionally about this car, and wonder if I should try to sell my wife on a second Ferrari. "For her," of course.
Sometimes it's truly baffling but this time it's presentation is much better (e.g. post #1 and 2). But worthy of $44K? That remains to be seen. Last year (July 3013) it was listed at $35K. . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Wade, great post - I remember seeing this a while back - there seemed to be some buyer's remorse or something like that - cuz the car sold and was returned to the dealer like a few days later - I believe that car is at a consignment lot in San Jose last I checked (earlier this year) Cheers
That's my old car! I've often thought about trying to find it and get it back! It was a great example. I was the second owner. It came out of Rochester, NY... came to AZ, until I sold it to a guy from CA. The only difference is when I had it, the boot was red. Here's what she used to look like...
