Well after over 40 years of repairing john deere tractors, combines and manure spreaders I am replacing my first Ferrari engine. I will post progress or lack there of in the coming weeks. If you see me doing something really stupid please let me know. Notice the pile of parts and some of those parts have a sandwich bag tied to them. My grandson had the idea that if you take out bolts and nuts and can not put them back in the hole then put them in a bag and tie them to the part. Pretty smart! wish me luck

The back panel is cheap carbon fiber look vinyl. 10 feet at 20mph it is cool. That is the ultimate idea for my car. If it looks cool it is cool. I bought it to drive it!!!

the engine is a 2.9 QV Nothing wrong with it but I had the opportunity to buy a 3.2 with low miles so I went for it. I am torn between selling the QV and recouping most of my cost or oil it up and save it for later. They are not making anymore of them.

Save it for late you will never know and matching numbers is always very important

Nice Fred! :) If money is not any issue I would keep the engine. (These engines, either 29.9 or 3.2 there will always be a buyer) I think I would rebuild it partically. If you were ever to sell it I think it'll be easier to sell with the original engine. Also like you said they are not making them anymore so it'll bring up more if you keep hold of it and sell it if you eventually really made up your mind :)

Sell it at least when you have driven 4000 - 5000 miles with the 3.2 so you know it is good. Not saying it isn't, but something could come to the surface after a period of time.

Nice work so for! keep it going!
Really curious how this electronic ignition will be :D

Fun project. And if you can't zip tie the bag to the part you can still bag the fasteners and write where they go on the bag. I have a box full of bags with notes written on the bags. I also number hoses and other connections. I use masking tape and start with #1. I put a number one on both sides of the connection so when reassembling I just match the numbers and reassemble. No thinking necessary. :D

    OH. THAT A-10

That A-10 is a heavy weight boxer. A seriously manly aircraft. How many Gs could you normally pull? I have heard the dive bombers in WWII claimed 9 out of the dive but I am skeptical. My favorite dog fight ever was one of our dive bombers who got cornered by three zeroes.

He knew the Zero wings would come off a relatively low Gs. He jinxed so much his rear gunner may not have remembered the incident. Anyway, I believe he got two confirmed, and the final one tried a head on collision. He crossed controls, I believe, and his wing cut the guy passing below.

    Legendary.

    My salute to you Sir.

I was a Crew Chief on a brand new A-10 (82-0651). It arrived at Suwon AB about a month before I did. Twelve months of maintenance-free bliss. :)

I took the above photo on one cold, crisp December morning (1984).

Thanks, I was in maintenance. The closest I came to being a fighter pilot was a back seat ride in an F-15 out of Decimomannu, Italy (temporary duty from Camp New Amsterdam). :)

I do envy your the lift you're using.

BTW, I noticed the 4 swivels on the top of your stand, nice touch.
