Just got the car last week, no history of belt service, so off to see the doctor and get everything fixed so we can have some fun. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes much luck. Read my post my girl didn't look sick either but oh boy is she sick. Pockets deep sick.
I hope my luck holds out. All the electrical works (which I'm excited about) on the car except the driver door side mirror (no big deal) and the electrical antenna switch on center console is broken (antenna has been wired so it functions when the radio is turned on, so again, no big deal). The only other thing that is questionable is the A/C, there is no belt on the compressor, so two things could be wrong, 1) belt broke and previous owner didn't replace it, or 2) the compressor is froze up. So I'm hoping getting all the belts replaced, tensioner bearings replaced, fuel filter, oil filter, oil change, plugs we should be ready for fun in the sun.
Andrew, Don't worry. When I bought my Mondial, one of the first things my specialist said we'd have to have a look was the water pump. It was in perfect working order, but it needed to be upgraded with silicone hoses (original ones were worn and cracked, which produced a very minor leak). Water pump is an item to always be watched closely. Mine's OK, but I know it's always a candidate to cost me money. However, if properly maintained and if upgraded with silicone hoses, you can rest assured it won't give you a headache. Kind regards and all the best, Nuno.
I feel for you but just think no engine out so cost is not to bad as compared to the 3.4 versions. Once the big repairs bleed of your cash the car will run strong.
I still think I'm pretty lucky as I may get everything done for under $3,000.00, which from the stories on F cars this is GREAT.
That's not great. That's awesome good for you. That's the type of car you purchase when your not a dummie. lol like myself great deal enjoy your gem.
Ron, I got the parts to the mechanic last Thursday, and he indicated he would start work on it tomorrow (1-26-15) and I should have it back on this coming Thursday, keeping my fingers crossed. I appreciate your quick response of my purchase of your roof latches and will give you positive feedback when they arrive. Mine are fine now, but as everyone on this forum as indicated they will go sometime, so know I will be prepared. Thanks again. Andy
Andy - are you using someone in Tucson or did you bring it up to Phoenix? I'm probably going to do a major in a few months when it's too hot to drive. Only 9k miles since the last belt change but it was 10 years ago and I have some oil leaks to go after. Starting to look around for the right long term mechanic.
Mike, using a shop here in Tucson, Will's Auto Repair, they work on everything from Ferrari's to Bentley's and everything in between. They are associated with Cavallino Luxury Motors here in Tucson.
