    Question for you guys:

Did the Mondial ever come with an owners pouch/case for the owners manual and other documents?

I've seen threads on every other forum about the leather/cloth cases for owners manuals.

I have all the manuals, including original warranty book for my car. However, no pouch/case.

Note: I don't keep them in the car. They are safely tucked away in my house. I'm just curious if I'm missing a case.

    Thanks

    Sid

Yes. Same as TR and 328 for the same year.

The manuals won't do you much good at home when you need them.

Or do what I did, keep the new minty one at home, and a cheap dirty used one for the trunk.

The "T" came with a leather pouch; I'm not sure about other models.

I have the original tucked away, and I use this new one which has a larger capacity and a pen holder:

I thought the holder was for a mini Maglite.

There's no glovebox or storage area to keep a pen inside the T, so I keep a chunky yellow (oops, Giallo) Ferrari pen in the pouch.

I like the custom band holding the pouch, nice touch.

I use copies that I printed from internet download. And, being the hi-Tech guy that I am, I know where to download the manuals on my phone or tablet from anywhere on the go.

Have you seen the price of old Ferrari manuals? I'd prefer to keep my originals safe at home. out of the hands of thieves. Also, the hot and humid climate here in Texas doesn't help preserve paper items left in the car.

Same for the tool kits. I'm leaving the originals safely at home, and keeping a cheap, modern set of tools in the car.

If I ever show the car, I'll take the original docs, tools and Classiche Certification to the show. But for now, they stay safe, warm, and dry at home. All that stuff is just too expensive to replace.

Hmmm. I might have to locate/acquire one.

The wife wants new wheels for her 85 MB W123. Now might be a good time to negotiate a purchase of a pouch.

    Sid

Or, after giving this some more thought, perhaps instead of a pouch for my Mondial, perhaps the "proper" and "right" thing to do would be to acquire a TR owners pouch.....with attached TR!
Might have to start planning for the future. Gotta have goals and something to do when retirement happens.

I have what I believe to be the original pouch that came with the car, or at least the condition of it suggest so. It is not leather but cloth bound with suede inside and imprinted with the Ferrari emblem.

    Hi Jeff

Can you post a pic of the outside and inside?

I plan to search for a pouch, and pics would make it a whole lot easier for me.

    Thanks

Good Question! I had no idea what the cost would be until I started looking today on Ebay. I see original 308 and 512 pouches ranging from $1600 to $4000.

Then, I see that T. Rutlands has a reproduction "80's Style" pouch for $295.

Given that I'm putting only copies of the original docs in the car, I may just get the repro for the car, and wait for better pricing on the real thing.

If you decide to go the "repro" route, the lowest price I've found is at Superformance: Ferrari Parts for 246, 308, 348, 355, 360 and all of the Ferrari range. Even with a small import tariff, I've found that their prices are lower than T. Rutland's.

    Whooa....

If I'm reading that right "Document Wallet Holder" - about $90.

    That's a third of T.Rutlands ($295).

I noticed that scaledetails (Stephane) also has one for sale (on the classifieds thread) for only $160. I'm going to ping him about that one - as it appears to be genuine OEM.

    Thanks for the Pic!

That's a good looking doc set. I have most of that for my car (minus the pouch).

As a side note, have you seen what these cloth pouches are selling for on Ebay? There's one that I found, with documents (not as complete a collection as yours: $2300)

Ferrari 308 Owners Manual Pouch 308 Owners Manuals GTS GTB | eBay

And how about this one, for a 365 - $19000!!!

Ferrari 365 Leather Pouch Owners Manual Warranty Card Parts Book GTB 4 Concours | eBay

Crazy prices! I think I'm gonna ping Stephane (scaledetails) and buy one from him! And guard my documents!

Welcome Sid. There may also be a difference between the asking and the actual selling price? The original brocade/leather pouch is very nice though. I can understand why it has a certain value. The leather pouches are much easier to produce and reproduce too.
