Wondering what this is used for, circled in the pic? Not my car- i borrowed the pic online, but I have these too. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, My Rachel, is a 92 T Cab - she doesn't have that Tenax stud. Honestly, I can't think of what would attach to a Tenax stud located as shown in the pic. Maybe someone had some really cool rear compartment idea, like a cargo net held by Tenax snaps ?? Cheers, Hank
Hank the car in the pic is not mine. I have an 88, but I also have these fasteners. I cannot see what they're for either.
Those are for the convertible top cover. This is why the cabriole does not have one. It appears the cover on the car pictures does not have an original factory cover on it.
My '88 has the same studs and my convertible top cover comes no where near them just like in the top photo. Alden
I believe that its for the "protection sheet" cover to snap into when the top is down reference pg 105 3.2 manual
I can. In the manual, plain as day. Can't post pictures or I would. Point being the book provided by the factory answers the question. The internet has provided two wrong answers and one correct one. The book is the best source of information. Take the time to read it and familiarize yourself with the car. I am a concours judge. At every event it is obvious only a small minority of the owners know how everything works and what everything is yet the factory went to the trouble of putting it all in the book.
Do I win a prize if I'm right. Been a long time since I read the book. If you take the seat belt end closest to the stud mount it then put a fastener on it it will keep seatbelt out of way when you lower the seats. Now someone needs to attach a copy of the page in the book. I'm away from home. Maybe I'm wrong but that is how I use them.
Reading the book cover to cover is a great way to bring one closer to their car. I agree. It's great stuff. I should do it again
Brian Yep I was wrong I found the picture however its did not show the stud it took some analyzing thank you
Could I suggest it's as plain as a clear night...? P107 in the UK manual for my 88 cab; you can't actually see the stud, there's no text reference to its use, but one can deduce from the picture I suppose. Clever touch by Maranello though and I've learnt something new today. And Brian is right, the manual is a rather obvious but often overlooked source of good information in our new internet world. yep that's what I saw after Brian gave me my homework! only in my manual its on pg 100 so there is no snap on my belt assume that the open square lodges on the head?
Better picture in some year manuals than others. Cars were delivered with belts stowed as shown an a button to hold belt in place. All parts shown in parts books.
Brian - out of interest, do you own a Mondial, do you have this intimate level of knowledge from your role as a judge and it extends across many models, or did you have a Mondi manual to hand?! Do you (or anyone) know if all the tenax studs for the boot cover originally came with the black Ferrari embossed plastic caps? Mine are a mix and is this something that would be picked up as part of judged event?
Mine shows up on page 99 of my '86 3.2 cab, after I get my interior back together going to see if works as shown,
Dave I cant answer for judging up to the T the tenax are german 10 with the plastic horse cover, and all should be that way including the ones on the back seat tie down the t has the larger head
Does anybody have a button picture seems like some more unobtainium....? im sure mine were misplaced by POs
When I purchased my car 100% were the black plastic horse caps. Several of the internal fingers were broken and I've swapped them out as needed with chrome ones but started moving them around so the chrome ones are in less visible areas. The underside spins off and allows movement from one location to another. When I purchased my car the seat belts were held out of place with the same caps. Don't know if that is correct or if there was something different to hold them out of the way? Something square?
