Recently I was perusing all the various F cars, especially the front engine Californias. But that DINO! THAT was a Sports Car! It is about three feet narrower then anything recent, half the weight and looks like an Itallian Miata! Do any modern F cars have manual transmissions and manual steering?

And I really really want something less then 3,000 horse power. I have an especially fast 3.2 Mondial and it probably does 1/4 mile in the low 14 second range. For decades me and my buddies talk about how much power is enough power. My Mondial is just about right. And I have had blown 5.0 Lincoln Mark VIIs. And gues what? My 4,000 lb suspension prepped blown 1991 Mark VII did 1/4 mile in 14.4.

I really LIKE planting my foot to the floor and thinking I might want a bit more! That is the secret of all entertainment. Leave them wanting just a little bit more!

No No Not THAT warp speed demon!

The new Dino should be 67 inches wide, weight less then 2,500 lbs. No power brakes, no power steering. Perhaps no power windows. A/C would be good if it works in August Atlanta. Offer ONLY a five speed. And only a naturally aspirated engine of less then 300 hp. Probably more like 250 hp.

A car a regular guy can get his teeth into! Sort of like me with my Mondial. Give me a new Vette and I would never find a parking space wide enough. No local straight long enough to survive the inevitable left hander. Leg Irons and pine boxes are not my idea of good holsome fun. Is there a single modern car of 500 hp that anyone can actually say, on an actual country road: "I really want just a little bit more power!"

But thats just me. I have been ruined by my 50 year old 1965 Corvair Monza convertible with 110 optimistic hp, but will not blow my cowboy hat off at 80 mph. Ninty miles per hour being its top speed. It does have world class brakes! Seriously!

PS: Ferrari could make money on such a car simply by high high tech matereials, low production numbers, and that old time look!

Supercharged Elise murders everything for thrills and speed, but the 4C seems about right too.

I have a mate that specialises in coming out with all sorts, but his "the right amount of mustard is just not enough" was genius. Works for power also.

The Lotus Elise S2 is one scary car --- It doesn't slide. It hops.

    Dear Ferrari:
The "New Dino" should be a 6 cylinder mid-engine car of about 400HP. Whether this requires turbocharging or remains naturally aspirated is in your good hands. The performance target should, ALWAYS, be the Porsche 911 turbo. Because off this, the base price must be limited to no more than $30,000 over and above that of the Porsche's base price. Please note that "base price" for the purposes of this discussion means he cheapest price for which one can purchase either vehicle. (In other words, the price before such options as carbonfibre nose hair tweezers bearing the horse emblem, leather lined scrotum warmer, etc.)
One other thing; this new Dino MUST have the option of a three pedal manual gearbox. Build it and they will come ... to the tune of at least 8,000 sales per year.
Respectfully yours: David Lind, proud Mondial 3.2 owner for 15 years.

+1 on on the gate shifter as an option. I was wondering, as Ferrari offers the "custom build" program, could you theoretically order an f12 with a gated shifter? I mean it's quite different that ordering a custom colour of leather, but they do say personalised to your specs, so...

I think this thread would get 800% more input if it were in another category such as "Ferrari General Discussion". Moderators, what do you think?
