    Guys,

So I just shook hands with an acquaintance to purchase a Mondial. I noticed 2 things unusual and want to ask if they are normal?

1.) it has a set of metric TRX wheels. I thought these were only on the Mondial 8's

2.) it's red on tan with a tan top? Is the tan top original?

    Thanks,Sam

    Congratulations!

1.) TRXs were offered on all Mondials except the t.

2.) Tan top could be a special order, but I seriously doubt it.

I could be wrong, but I thought the 3.2's from 1987 on came with non-metric 16" wheels, I know that the extra wheels that came with my 1988 3.2 are 16" and I was told by the seller and a highly respected F car tech that they were original to the car.

    1) the owners manual calls out both metric and standard tires depends on what rims are on the car
    2) tan top is not original but so what , that combo looks nice!

    welcome to the Mondi family!

Congrats Sam! Looks like a very nice combo! Do you have any pics to share to show us this mix. Like Wade and Ron said TRX was very normal on 86 and 87 models still. I know even 88 ones that had TRX. Only the T came with 16".

Thanks guys... It's an 86 which seems to have been in California its entire life. I'll get some pics posted this weekend.

Congratulations. It's redundant to say but my 87 owners manual mentions both standard and TRX, my car happened to come with standard so it's all good.

And the tops wear out over time. You can look at passenger side lower corner of the rear window. My car had it's original top and there was the little horse stamped into the plastic. my replacement top does not have that. If you have the horse I'd say you still have an original factory top. If you don't, I couldn't say it's then anything definitive.

    Enjoy your new car!

Oh yeah, you'll also have to get the lingo right. It's a cab for cabriolet, not vert :D

Sorry in the pic the top is NOT latched in at the front as the rear window regulator was being worked on.

Are the pictures taken at your home or did you buy the car from a very cool collector? :D
