Hello Group, I've removed my side grills and will fix the 2 teeth that are missing. Once done, I'd like to paint these teeth. Can you advise where I can get some touch up paint? I was thinking of using Model Paint??? Thanks, Bruno
I used red enamel for painting an added tip (affixed w/ a metal post) - can't tell the difference - also Dr Color Chip make good products imo -
For a perfect match go to www.TouchUpDirect.com Buy the small jar not the touch up pen. Put some on a piece of cardboard and then use a small artist brush to touch up and paint small areas, they recommend clear coat but pass on that. It works fantastic!! I tried 3 places and these guys and the color match is the best!! And cheap!!
A good paint shop can make the color you need and fill it in a paint touch up pencil. Take a piece of the Mondial with you.. The fuel flap for instance or the grill and they should be able to match it. Ps. Model paint is only meant for specific plastics. Rather don't use nail polish stuff as it will melt or soften the plastic. If you really want to do it properly you would need to tip it with a plastic primer on for hand. Then color tip it each day until the spot is nice and fat. Sand first with 800 -> 1500 -> 2000 and polish it. If you do not use a plastic primer it will chip of the moment you either sand it or polish it.
I was just getting ready to reply, wait till it dries. Then I saw your next post. The paint color sticker should be on the inside of the trunk lid.
Worked out GREAT!! I used Devcon Plastic Welder and plastic primer on both pieces prior to luting. Painted with Touch Up Direct Rosso Corsa. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice work! I have a couple of broken ones on mine, now I know how to fix them. What material did you use for the teeth themselves? I guess you pinned them in place like a dental implant, right? Alden
I used a high speed drill (but you can use a Dremel) to make a 'pocket' of approximately 2-3 mm deep to hold the tabs that I fashioned out of plastic (looked around daily things until I found plastic of the right thickness). The key is to undercut the pocket and to put divets in the tabs for retention. Used Devcon Plastic Primer to glue the pieces together and painted thereafter.
