Hi guys , Took the Mondial for a long drive. I noticed the Brake Failure Light indicator turned on . There was no changed in the brake performance , pedal stiffness nor the gear changes nor stiffness of the clutch action. I checked the Brake fluid level & it was spot on . When I usually start the car in the morning the brake light turns on then after less than 30 seconds the brake failure light will turn off. Thanks in advance, Mondial
Alden , Stekkenfun 4 , Thanks for the reply , that I will check and spray the electrical connections going to the brake master cylinder. audio research
Fixed that for you. All these? 6 is more than I thought I would find, lol! And I may have missed one, Jeeze! Alden Image Unavailable, Please Login
None yet Alden. This brake failure light illumination happens when I brought the car to the paint shop , w/c was 2 hours away from my place. The car is getting a full respray. It won't be finish until late Dec or early Jan. I will give you guys an update once I solve the problem. By the way there is an Eletrical Contact Cleaner made by WD40. It's a very effective product for cleaning electrical connectors , etc. audio research
OK, I did this to all the connections I could find, 6, I think. See my pic in the post above. Turned off the main battery disconnect first, this is good advice when doing ANY work on the electrical system on any car. I also sealed the connections with dielectric grease. (Yea, I know, debate this in another thread, OK, it has worked for me for hundreds of years almost, lol!) Turned the main battery disconnect back on and my "Brake Failure" light is gone. I have driven the car several times since I did this and the light has stayed off, other than as it should at start up. I did change the brake fluid and bled the system a couple of weeks before this problem showed up, so I did that too. I will post a "how to" with pics in the tech sticky once I get input from others. For those who have LHD cars to chassis n° 43011 and also Ferrari Mondial 8 (1981) There is a brake faillure indicator in the brake system with an electric contact that indicates pressure difference between front and rear brake lines. Page 029 nr 016 from eurospares parts catalog Ferrari Mondial 3.0 QV (1984) - Brake System (Valid Only for LHD Up To Chassis No. 43011): Page 029. Page 028 nr 16 Ferrari Mondial 8 (1981) - Brake System: Page 028 So maybe you have that also and is the pressure unegual between front and rear lines. Guido
