I have a couple more coming... Here is some more my friends about the Mondial 8 Mondial 8 intro Autoweek http://alexachua.com/autoweek_1981_a.pdf Wheels 1981 http://alexachua.com/wheels_1981.pdf Wheels 1982 http://alexachua.com/wheels_1982.pdf The wheels 1982 article is very negative... The reviewer said, that while the Mondial is quote "The Best Handling Ferrari EVER" he thought it was too expensive and too slow (but they didn't have instrumented tests, he based it on 'feeling' slow) .... I agree with him it was very expensive and I agree the handling is sublime...but slow? Yeah against a 1980 911 sure....against everything else?....please don't be dramatic and regurgitate what your read somebody else said.... a bit of lazy journalism (see my chart below) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice finds! IMHO the '82 article is an honest write up of most things good and bad.. I do not recognize the handbrake rubbing against the door, which I also didn't notice on the older models. I think at the time people didn't realize the Mondial was almost 200 kilos heavier then the 308 and together with the high it was significantly slower then its sibling. People might have expected the same results with the same engine. In all honesty the 911 and the Corvette where the only competitors if I recall correctly, but what Ferrari didn't know the 308 became also a competitor anyway I recognize a lot in what they are saying Something else I noticed on this Mondial, which I never seen before... side trims on the doors?
