Here's my proper introduction: 2 months ago, I quite literally stumbled upon these highly under appreciated cars and found 1 of the 43 of sale on none other than FChat. I had been looking for a 456M but the lines of the Mondial really intrigued me and soon I found myself driving 4 hours one way just to look at a car I candidly knew very little about. The owner had purchased his car with 18 miles on it after the original owner traded it back into the dealership! I imagine a very angry significant other may have had something to do with that exchange. Anyway, the "original" owner had put 22K miles on it... here is the for sale post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/499898-1989-mondial-t-coupe-low-mileage-great-condition.html My friend closely inspected the car for signs of paint and body work - he is one of the best - and once he signed off I knew my purchase was imminent. We sealed the deal several weeks later, and and I carefully drove it 200 miles back to Auto Elite in Tenafly, NJ (which was highly recommended by other FChat members) as the car was due for its major service. Yesterday I received the call telling me my car was ready. Vinnie and his crew really do outstanding work and their attention to detail is second to none. The price for the work that was done was also exceedingly fair. I somehow managed to put 100 miles or so on yesterday relishing in the Mondial's delicious steering and brake feel, crisp throttle response, rev-to-the-stars V8 and excellent gated shifter. The adjustable shocks dampen out the worst NJ highway expansion joints in their "soft" setting and then transform the car in normal and hard modes when the road smooths out. This is easily one of the best driver's car I've wheeled in a long time and my only regret is not discovering the Mondial sooner. I have a set of new Pirelli PZero Systems on the way, but the rears are back ordered until sometime in December I suspect the tires will make an already excellent handling car handle even better as the tires on now are mismatched front and rear (Coopers on the front, Goodyears on the rear). Anyway, this is a great forum and I look forward to reading and hopefully contributing regularly. Cheers and happy driving! Mike, looking good! Congratulations. You certainly have a rare GT car there. A true drivers car. Drive her often and she will continue to perform better and better for you. By your facial expression it looks as if you have caught the F-tCoupe fever. Keep us up on the experience.
This is the deal of the century. It is statistically difficult to find another prime quality ORIGNIAL Mondial like this ever again. Congratulations. Enjoy!
Congratulations on the car! It's probably the nicest T Coupe to come on the market in the past year. Wonderful color combo. Enjoy! 2cam
Congrats! The Mondial was one of my favorites. They just drive so well, and my Newfies fit very well! We all miss the 'Mongrel'! It is way under appreciated. Enjoy her! Image Unavailable, Please Login
