I was detailing my front boot on my '88 Cabriolet and when I removed the right cover I found four more relays with fuse holders attached to them.

Three of them have fuses, 2x30A, 1x3A. The fourth one has no fuse in the holder.

I looked through my electrical manual/drawings and could not find these relays or fuses.

    1. What are these relays and fuses meant to control?
    2. Are the fuse values correct? (30/30/3/?)I don't think I have ever seen a 3 Amp fuse in an auto.
    3. Is there supposed to be a fuse in the fourth holder? If so, what is the correct rating for this fuse?

I remember reading about a fuse somewhere that was only installed for diagnosis, could this missing fuse be it?

Thanks for any and all assistance.

Sorry, Stupid joke. I have no clue because mine hasn't got that on that place in my QV coupe.

They're for the ABS . Each relay has its own fuse.

Part 131939 Relay for motor pump
Part 131940 Relay for system overriding
    Part 131940 Protection relay
    Part 131938 electronic unit relay

They appear on the brakes schema of a Mondial T

In fact, the order of these fuses varies almost by car, so check the cables to see which is which.

The fourth empty fuse socket is supposed to be empty. If you insert a fuse in there, then the ABS self check will be triggered to look for problems. Plenty of threads on that here.

Many thanks, Stek, you are a gentleman and a scholar!

My car has ABS, but these appear nowhere on the wiring diagram, got a copy of the page from the T you could post?

Any comments about the fuse ratings? As I said, I have never seen a 3 amp fuse in an auto. Just want to make sure all is OK before I button her up.

BTW, as I have found with other fuses on this 30 year old beauty, one 30 amp fuse was partially melted, but still allowing current to flow! The others appeared OK, but I cleaned the connections and replaced them too.

I always check, clean and replace fuses as regular maintenance, but these caught me by surprise. I didn't expect to find them under that cover!

Thanks Wade, I copied all the drawings and schematics. I searched for "missing fuse" and nothing came up.

Crazy, yes. I used the keywords "empty" and "fuse".

FerrariChat's search function is notoriously and infamously inaccurate. :(

    OK, Stef, thanks!

I put this thread in the DIY section, titled so it can be found with the search function a bit easier.
