    Hi all-

I just got my Ferrari Mondial t back from NJB Automotive in Ohio. I must say that I am truly impressed with the quality of workmanship that was put into my vehicle. The car arrived on February 25th, and I had been in constant dialogue with Jack throughout the process. I was provided with detailed photographs, explanations of the services to be performed, and offered additional services with up front costs, should I want to pursue them. The experience was positive, and I would highly recommend their services.

I was very cautious when choosing who would service my vehicle, as this is the second engine out major service performed in two years. I got to know Jack as he reached out and offered to work on my Valeo issues last year, and fixed them to my astonishment. I knew when my car starting leaking oil and coolant that NJB was the place to send it.

NJB performed an engine out major service - including cleaning the engine and engine compartment, also included were replacing the seals on the water pump, having the adjustable shock actuators rebuilt, cleaning/detailing/restoring the interior and leather boot, paint correction that makes the car look like its wet, glossy, and new, fixing CV boots, steering rack boots, foam insulation under the hood, ding/dent remediation, replacing trunk strut, and the list goes on. The point I am making here is that the work and service are high quality and NJB is not limited to mechanical repairs.

The review above is in total contrast to the experience I had with Auto Elite in NJ. I requested an engine out major service (May 2014), and received a car in poor condition, having spent nearly $12000 on a major. I received a car that would slip out of gear, misfire, and ultimately was fixed by NJB after several failed attempts by Auto Elite. The Valeo problems were all electrical in nature- go figure, a Mondial with electrical issues... Auto Elite's analysis of the Valeo issue, or should I say "Valero" as Mark (The computer diagnostics specialist and person who smiles and swipes the credit card) called it, was that I needed a new potentiometer ($2000), new phase sensor ($650 with labor), and lastly a new actuator $7500, which was when I knew that it was time to go somewhere with knowledgeable mechanics. This was after I was supposed to be thankful that he spent "30 hours" troubleshooting issues that presented themselves after their service. NJB fixed all issues with NO NEW PARTS, just diagnostic ability, fixing faulty relays, crimped wires, spliced wires, and poorly grounded connections. NJB did what true, old school mechanics do, fix the problem, not throw parts at it and hope for a solution at the buyers expense- or in my case, the guinea pig.

When I discovered an oil and antifreeze under my car in January 2016, I knew it had to be fixed properly by NJB. The car made its second journey from NY to Ohio in February.

Notable items discovered by NJB during my major service, and as a result of the major in 2014 are as follows:

10 YEAR OLD TIMING BELT!!!- the date code on the belt was 04284016 (28th week of 2004!) making it 10 years old when it was used in my car in 2014 (I'd love to hear how a "new" 10 year old belt is new. I don't care where it was stored, 10 year old rubber is 10 year old rubber)

    Over-torqued/broken fuel line connections- 2 @ $750 each

Union to A/C compressor broken and soldered

Broken actuator gear on rear driver side

Dirty Engine / wrong acorn nuts on valve covers

No sealant between cam seals & O Rings, leaking cam seals.

Water pump seal not replaced, leaking water pump. (This was the first question I asked when I brought the car in)

Incorrect power steering belt- Belt too wide and riding over edge, ready to fail

I stress that all service facilities are not equal! The facility who performed my service in 2014 has a good reputation, which makes me question; Was the poor service due to lack of love for the Mondial, the customer, an anomaly?

Caveat Emptor! Check out NJB: NJB Automotive LLC

Just think; if you HAD needed all those parts, the service would have cost $20,000. I'm glad you avoided that hit. And, don't forget, you are happy with your car. Enjoy it!

Jack has taken care of my 2000 360 Modena since 2011... long before I bought it. It arrived in showroom condition and drives like a demon. For the few minor issues I've had since it arrived, he has been very responsive. My only complaint is that I wish he was closer to me to keep returning for service.

Glad to hear he did a great job on your Mondial, as I am considering one I came across recently.

Thanks for posting. It's good to hear both good and bad feedback on service shops.
