Hello, The rubber lining in my Mondial was missing (water entered the cabin when it rained), s a new lining was fashioned by a Ferrari dealer here in London. I was told hey don't make them anymore. But now when I close it, the sunroof rises a little too high at the front and very unevenly. Shall I get rid of the rubber lining? Thanks. Rafa.
I have just learned that the sunroof is actually a period aftermarket addition. Does anyone know anything about these sunroofs? Thanks. Rafa.
It is not an aftermarket as far as i know- unless it has been changed to one from another maker. Look on eurospares web site at the drawings and it shows the roof seals- it shows the 1984 qv with a sunroof, mine was a 1987 3.2 with a sunroof so someone is telling you porkies.
No, the hight of the sunroof is given by its 4 sliding feet. You need to remove some shims between the front feet and sunroof panel. The seal on the sides and front only fills the gap laterally between the panel and body.
That is incorrect; the car was designed with the sliding roof, hence it's relatively high roof line. It was a factory option. In 1983, it cost £500.00 before tax in the UK. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The main issue with my sunroof is that the original external rubber gaskets were missing and someone had fashioned a crude rubber lining that doesn't fit properly, The front gasket is available for about $150 (£115), but I couldn't find the rear one anywhere. I have finally sourced them from Scuderia Rossa in Italy, at 420. More than I had expected to have to pay for this. Could I get away with just fitting the front gasket, or should I bite the bullet and buy the pair? Thanks. Rafa, London.
No......................! Orlando Vetrano of La Scuderia Rossa is a fraud merchant, a search will turn up lots of "do not do business with" threads on him here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-discussion-not-model-specific/513041-orlando-vetrano-lascuderiarossa.html Alden
No, you cannot. It's not the same section due the to different way the seal is compressed and fitted. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for that, Afterburner. I was (optimistically, I think) wondering if having only the front gasket would make it watertight enough, but that's wishful thinking, I suppose. Otherwise, are you aware of any other available seal that could hopefully do the job? Thank you very much again. Rafa, London.
Rafa I am sorry I haven't got a source... Once in a while some parts pop up on ebay. i wonder if you could just tape up the gap for the time being? Transparent tape on clean body?
