Folks, I've searched and found lots of info on the actuators for the "t," but nothing on the shocks themselves being stuck. With the actuators removed (actually a PO must have pulled them a long time ago...), I cannot rotate the geared shaft at the top of the LR shock in either direction. The RR rotates fine. I'm currently spraying with PB Blaster and tapping - no luck so far. Is it just time for a rebuild/replacement of the shock? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Hi - You should probably have them all rebuilt. Try : Corvette fx3 shock actuator rebuilding and repair The cost to rebuild them properly will be less expensive than replacing one from Ferrari.
Alexion, Thanks for the reply. The issue is not with the electric motor actuator, it's the shaft coming from the shock that the motor operates. I have heard of leaking shocks, but not locked, jammed, or stuck ones.
You can have them rebuilt by the factory. Much less expensive than buying new. If, even, you can find them.
Yes. Bilstein somewhere in CA. As noted there are others but my experience is they are more expensive.
Bilstein no longer rebuilds OEM shocks - here is the response I got: "Unfortunately we no longer refurbish OE product. Only thing I can suggest is contacting Ferrari for an inspection and/or possible replacement. Thanks. Juan Alvarez Bilstein Technical Center Lead ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America, Inc." As Bevo said - Delta Vee will rebuild with lifetime warranty for $450 a shock.
