    Hi All

I need someone's help. The pin of my car's sunroof actuator finally gave up. The roof had too much drag before I fixed it. Would by any chance someone have the dimensions marked? The left overs are too mangled up to be of use... I will try to fabricate the pin and plastic sleeve and repair the otherwise good cable.

    Thanks
    Urs

I have this info somewhere, why not but a new cable ? I understand it is the same as a porsche roof and not that expensive.

Mike, if I can fix it I prefer to. But - anyone has a Porsche part number?

Mike, indeed, but that was about the cable. The front part with the drive pin is different from the Mondial's.

I just fabricated a replacement (not exact) from a nylon "spacer" from the local Taylor's Do-It center. It needs to be a tight fit on the pin - so the ID as I measured was 7.9mm, OD was 10mm, overall height was 12.5mm, inside flange to flange was 8.4mm. The overall diameter was 15.9mm.

The walls of the nylon bushing are very thin in the factory part, so you can max out the OD to maybe 10.3 mm (or as big as you can go and still fit down the slot, and with a tight fit on the pin, give it a little more meat. I'm conflicted as whether the top flange helps or hurts - depending on how the carriage rides in the tracks, the metal knife edge can catch under the flange and make it hard to engage in the slot - but maybe that was just a unique problem to my car.

Just as a follow-up, I ended up using the measured dimensions to generate a 3D print using Tinkercad and sending to Shapeways - photo attached of the old broken one on the left, new on the right. The product was done in Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Nylon.

If someone is working on a sunroof and wants to test it I have an extra.

    Hello, Sir:
I am in desperate need of one or two of those!
The aluminum pin cracked off. The bushing is worn and split.
I am going to bolt the aluminum cylinder back together and use a washer to keep the nylon spool bushing on.
How can I get a couple?
    Thanks!
