Sooner than later I need to re-paint the car. Currently it looks to be a British Racing green, great looking color, but when I paint it I am planning on painting it in its original color red. Can someone tell me for an '82 Mondial 8 if the paint was a single stage and around the deck lids if the paint goes down inside of the lip. The lips around my bonnets and deck lids were taped and shot with a semigloss black. It is a really clean looking job who ever did it but if I am going back to original I want it as close as possible.
    thanks

Single stage paint, not sure about the deck lid.

Yes: the first Ferraris to receive "base coat" + "clear coat" were during the 348 production, I seem to recall 1992. All cars up to the last 328s (september 1989) are certified in single-stage paint.

But be remembered that Glasurit used different shades of Rosso Corsa during the eighties: at least three, Rosso Corsa 300, then Rosso Corsa 300/6 from mid 1984, then Rosso Corsa 300/9 from mid 1987.

I also love the green but I would like to put it back original since I am planning to paint it.

There "should" be a paint code sticker something like this inside the trunk lid, (or somewhere) that will tell you which Rosso Corso it was originally painted with.

    My '88 is 300/9

Paint decal is missing. I assume when it was painted they removed it. The only way I know it was once red is around the corners where it has been buffed the paint is thin and you can see the red underneath.
