In Scent of a Woman Al Pacino drives a convertible Mondial T. The convertible top, which is folded down, is protected by a tan leather cover. All the Mondial 3.2 and earlier models I've seen have a black tarp-like cover, which I personally find unattractive. Does anyone know whether the Mondial 3.2s also offered a leather cover as an option? If yes, what can I expect to pay from an authentic OEM cover? If not, can one order a leather cover from an aftermarket source?
My 88 came with a leather top boot. Couple aftermarket suppliers sell on eBay for around $500, you have to install the tenax fasteners on the new boot yourself. Many here have done it. If you do a search in this forum for top boot you'll find lots of info.
It would be interesting to find out if tan was an option for the soft-top cover. According to the Original Ferrari V8 book by Keith Bluemel, leather soft top covers were an option. However, no mention of colors are given, except for the leather upholstery.
A lot of folks highly recommend Richandfamous for the leather boot covers. Here is an Ebay ad from them for one in black for $450, but I know they make them in tan too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-94-FERRARI-MONDIAL-BOOT-COVER-NEW-LEATHER-BLACK-/252128385577?hash=item3ab405da29:m:mB-8CixAcfYsLqkfLx9JbXA&vxp=mtr Alden
No affiliation. Josephina customs makes a fabulous cover. leather with a felt inner lining. Comes with aftermarket fasteners and fits great. Reuse your fasteners if you like. Either way you install the fasteners because no two cars are alike. Take your time and it fits better than any factory top. 450 I think. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My 88 has a black interior, and a black canvas cover, looks proper to me with the black trim on the car. I think the tan covers look a bit odd, even though they match the interior. Leather shrinks, and if the car is exposed alot to sun the fabric cover makes more sense. But the tight black cover on the silver Mondial looks great, the felt lining makes sense, sounds like the way to go if leather is preferred.
Correction: boot cover is dirty Magnolia with a Magnolia interior. Comment: Fred that boot cover looks great!
