My QV is an early UK one and has a black edge like yours. It was damaged so I remanufactured it as replacements were either like hens teeth or v expensive. I had it clear for a while but it didn't look as nice so painted it round the edges.

Fairly easy plexi refab.... not sure where my part pattern is... seem to recall one bend was a real pain to get sorted.... someone closer maybe make you a card template with angles marked on?

Being a neurotic owner I first ordered one from Italy via the web, (one of those no confirmation and your card will only be charged if we can find one in our inventory deals), then I sourced one from TRutlands and bought that one, just in case Italy does not come thru, and of course I decided to stop by my storage garage and found the original cover that came with my car right next to my battery tender....

So for those keeping score, I have one cover, one on the way via TRutlands and possible a new one coming from Italy.

Same exact thing happened when I wanted to source new roof grab handles... I ended up with 2 new and one used. Oh well.

IIRC, there is a slot in the metal strip that it fits into.

And it attaches with a female snap on the cover to the existing male snap on the car.

Nice work! The attachments are as follows, the tab on one side, and a snap. Also, along the top edge, there is a weather strip (its nothing special just about a 1/2 inch wide by 1/8 inch think piece of black neoprene) attached on the body (not the cover) to seal out water coming from above.
