I see two small red rectangles in this picture and on some cars, but not on all.

(Top of grill, just to the right and left of lights)

    What are they?

    Thanks

Behind it are "buffers" for additional support aka 5mph compliance. It's indicative of a US (and SA) spec car. Both the 3.2 and the t have them, along with the 328 (but different sized bumper).

In other words, without them, the car is not a US spec or has had some front end work. Of course, check the VIN to be sure, for ease of registration.

However, while the parts book doesn't include the Canadian cars specifically, the bumper requirements were for [apparently] the North American market.

Thanks for telling me what they are.

My 1989 328 (82092, I think July '89 production) is definitely US spec, never had any front end work done and does not have them.

Do you know if those blocks are removable without changing the entire bumper?

they are welded. Don't quite believe in the 5mph thing as mine IIRC were used to hold the top portion to the frame/bumper area.

honestly didn't know about the difference on the other one pictured above in not having but since a 328, guessing it was a style change. afterall 1989 T's I believe have them...perhaps IF true [5MPH thing] it might be 89 T's were under a different design spec...AKA 90's had the seat mice and 89-ers not.

Yes, probably changes along the way i.e. model years and Federal requirements.

I'm sure that any competent body shop could cut them off and refinish the bumper. But one thing to remember, the light assemblies in the bumper are NLA, so during a minor frontal impact the lights are completely unprotected.

On US spec 328, bumper is longer and lip above bumper is protruding further out of the nose than on euro 328.
    No blocks.

Okay, apparently just the CDN 328s.

Mondial 3.2/T Front Bumpers blocks - Post #3

But pretty much for all US and SA Mondial 3.2 and t.

    Example of CDN:

"This beautiful 328 GTS was delivered new in 1987 in Canada by renowned Ferrari importer Luigi Della Grotta Sports Cars, based in Quebec."

Used Ferrari 328 GTS for Sale at ?99.500 in Nunspeet
