In the process of replacing my clutch (1981 Mondial 8) I found what I believe is engine oil around the pilot bearing. The rear crank seal is definitely not leaking. See attached photo. May be hard to tell what's going on but you can see that it is dry around real seal but wet around pilot bearing (shiny in photo). Can this be leakage around flywheel bolts? Are the bolt holes blind or do they extend into crankcase?

Grease maybe leaking from the bearing seal. Obviously you need to bin that old bearing and replace the rear seal even if it isn't leaking, because chances are it will leak long before a new clutch is needed again.
Think I show a rear seal replacement when I did my clutch on my 'thehelidoctor' YouTube channel.
Good luck, all the best Bell

Thank you very much. What you say makes sense, and I will do it!
