Thanks Paul. I did call them and while the woman I spoke to was very nice, she sounded completely dumbfounded on the part. She went to ask about it and came about and told me it's not something they can help me with... and that they just re-insulated their warehouse and no longer have a grasp on 90% of their inventory?! It was an odd conversation.

Perhaps you have a spare that I could buy from you directly?

What is the diameter (I am guessing 3", albeit the getting it in mm would be good)? There were similar ones used on BMW cars of the era, the maf itself would not interchange but the screens might. Hard to get a Bosch part number for the screen and retaining clip, but someone who does rebuilds would have access to this part number data. Is the Bosch part number on your maf itself 020212018?

Many tuners take the screen out, claims of more power. Possibly at very high rpm, not likely for normal driving as it is designed to reduce air turbulence and give the maf the proper air flow for the sensor to adjust the engine. But maybe you just found 5 hp by taking it out!

Very true Andy - lots of posts here say to remove it for more power! I do claim to know if it's true though, I will call that company tomorrow. I've sent them MAFs in the past missing the screen, and both times they've come back with a screen on...I assumed they had a stack of em' somewhere...

    More to come.

This occurred to me also, but it appears the BMW MAF screens are 3" and the Mondial t is 2.5". Maybe there is someone else that uses the 2.5" as well?
