Oh... can someone explain why he was moving that lever back and forth? Is that trim or power?

Saw that over the weekend.... what a bunch of people out of their element.
Glad no one got killed - they so EASILY could have been. That chick on the
right tried to "stay cool and not look dumb" right to the very end. Unbelievable.

my family had a house on that lake for years.

on the weekends we'd be off the water by noon; too many drunk idiots showboating (excuse the pun) like those clowns.

MO Water Patrol did a bangin' business in writing DUI's on that lake.

Power... he was backing out of the throttle as he hit wake crests and looks like he caught one wrong. Very lucky they didn't roll, and the driver may have hooked the wheel into it as he fell over - saving them ( though I doubt he did it purposely - more likely he was trying to remain standing).

My parents have a house on the lake on the Camdenton side. While the amount of boats has greatly diminished since the economic crisis began, there remains plenty of large boats going way too fast for that lake. In many places it is so narrow that it funnels the boats close together, I'm surprised there aren't more collisions and fatalities. I have no idea why you would want a 44' speedboat that does 70 mph there, but you see them all the time. There is still plenty of KC and STL money down there to burn apparently.

A few years ago there were a couple of salvage operations which had a booming business recovering sunken boats on that lake. In many cases a huge boat would go by and throw such a huge wake that it swamped and sunk smaller boats, some even in their docks.

My parent's house is in the back of a cove and sometimes you get the waves amplifying as they bounce around, his bass boat gets thrown around badly. You have to be careful tying it up or it would beat itself to pieces in the dock.

Looked like the power and he was jerking it around unintentionally as the boat bounced around.

We boated there on lake pomedetere(sp?) in early 70's. Lake had many sand bars. We were invited to go with newly met family. 15 yr old turned loose with boat. He hit sand bar, broke prop. Boating in general is taken way too casually.

at any rate, you're correct....boating isn't taken seriously, often until it's too late.

They are all lucky the throttles were knocked down when the driver fell over, because I think it's safe to say he wasn't wearing the kill switch clip. Imagine that boat going full throttle while everyone was laying on the floor.

I was thinking the same thing. Did he hit his head on something at the first impact because the way he just planked over didn't look natural? The blonde looked like her jaw was smacked against the windshield frame. They were very lucky to only have minor injuries.

Nasty high-side that have been way worse, though it looks like you can see the kill cord fly in the air as the driver gets thrown port side.

You can actually hear the kill switch tone right after the incident before the end of the video.

Looks like he was trimmed up too far bouncing along for no reason other than lack of skill and showing off, went into a turn trimmed up, boat went into the air landed hooked up and threw the driver out of the seat.

Driver error. Given how he was working the throttles on a lake in such a big boat(driven properly it would have been very stable) clearly showing off without a clue. Also for such a machine 70mph is not really fast, it was just poorly trimmed and driven. They are lucky it did not roll to the outside.
