Anyone following this? Anticipating? It sure looks sweet! "The new Panigale 899 is available in red for $14,995 and white for $15,295" [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW7zMgRlcd8&feature=player_embedded[/ame] Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Panigale is very nice But I'm a little partial to the F3 800 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
MV is just incredible! I have owned so many different bikes, all different makes. Many are so concerned with the minor issues that can actually only make a difference if you are racing. But a bike is such a personal item that u have to sit on one and ride it to know if you can connect with it. All other details on 1 hp more 5nm of torque 2 kg less....these are insignificant in the real world. MV for me is just the best bikes in terms of looks, engineering, sound, and purity. At least for me, it would be the only bikes I would buy as street bikes. Just ordered an F3 800 and a Rivale! Cant wait. But that said....these days...bikes from all makes seem to get better and better. You cant go wrong! MJ
that MV does look good. if Ducati is the Ferrari of motorcycles, MV is the Pagani anyone have real world ownership history with an MV? i.e. is it a good bike or does it sit in the garage, not working?
I want that 899 REAL bad. And MV is not Pagani....Lamborghini maybe. There might be a certain Squid on this board who could chime in about her ownership experience (at least I think I remember her picking up a new one at some point and my e-gawking at it). Mark
I've wanted an 848 Evo for a long time, that 899 might put me over the edge need to live somewhere where the roads actually have corners in them first I think Squid's MV was a demo bike from her husband's shop, not sure how long they had it (?) but I could be wrong. I've seen a few at C&C type events in SoCal but never talked to the owners about living with one.
Both bikes are hot - the 899 is quite attainable and doesn't have as much of the "little bike" vibe that the 748 had under the 916 / 996 / 998 IMHO. What's pricing on the F3? Looks fantastic!
Not too bad considering what you get.I'm wanting to get back into having a bike but my tennis elbow condition is making it difficult :-(
I wasn't aware of it, had written off Ducati as too pricey and not my style, but this looks interetsing enough to check into. I was very interested in the new MV F3 800, even watched the hour long documentary on it and posted a pic here in the main thread, but then read and watched the reviews, a number of issues came up. They need to get those fixed. I have been looking at this lately - http://www.cycleworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/2014-Yamaha-YZF-R1-Grey.jpg
I wanted to like the 899, as the 1199 is one of two current dream bikes for me. However, they have clearly cheapened the 899 to the point that it would make more sense to buy a base 1199 for $3k more over the 899. Far more power, better brakes and suspension, and the color dash which was one of the coolest parts of the Panigale to me. 899 also uses a simpler Mitsubishi fuel injection system compared to the 1199. And of course the double-sided swingarm which I personally don't really care either way, but everyone will know you bought the cheap one, even from 100 feet away. 899 also uses an odd size rear tire, so like the 1199 you will probably be stuck with one brand (Pirelli). In reality the 899 is probably a better bike than the 1199 for most people where its performance is more accessible and slightly more economical to own in the real world. However, those criteria are usually farther down the list on customer's minds shopping for a new superbike. I'm not sure they have officially priced the 800cc MV, but expect it to be about $14,000-14,500. A relatively small premium over the 675cc version. I wouldn't expect they would sell many of the 675 after the 800 is available. Both versions still have fuel injection issues from what I've read. This may sound minor but will drive you crazy in the long-term.
isn't that the way it's always been with the lower displacement Duc superbike? interesting note on the rear tire, are there any options a bit bigger or smaller?
748 had single sided swingarm like big brother 916 / 996 / 998. IIRC, it was a 916 other than displacement.
A 6 inch rear tire is pretty common on liter bikes so there are many options. I don't really see an issue with the small tire, there are still enough options for a 5.5 inch rear I believe. True. Mark
it looks like what makes the rear tire size odd is the aspect ratio (60, where 55 gives you much more options)
After a decade of plastic clad sports bikes, I bought a 2007 Ducati Sport1000 Biposta last year and haven't looked back. It is plenty fast, sounds and handles great and looks like a motorcycle.
I probably should have known that but completely forgot Ducati went with those fatty tires with the Panigale. Mark
That MV F3 800 is very cool! Re Panigale, lot's of used, low mile 1199's around for the same price as a new 899. e.g. Ducati : Superbike in Ducati | eBay Motorcycles
