Many moons ago I had a play-day with one of these, and the thought of owning one never really left me. I have never owned a boat of any kind, and find the thought of an expensive wood-hull daunting, probably insanely expensive to maintain too, but too beautiful to ignore. Does anyone here have ownership-experience? Advice what to look for and what to avoid? Your thoughts are much appreciated, Best, Jack.
I own one. A 1939 Chris Craft 19' "Barrelback". It's one of 38 made that year. Pictures are on the "show your boat thread". Starting on page 44, I think post 878. I put a few picture up. Mike
Hi Jack - I have been owned by Rivas for nearly 30 years. I have a couple of Riva's now, and had an Ariston for years. Aristons are perhaps the most beautiful of the Riva family. PM me for an earful! Also, please google my website "Perlita Too, The Barnfind Riva". James (Thx, Cptn!)
Any further thoughts on Riva-lust? BTW: congrats on Miss World 2014! And clean up your mailbox while you're about it!! Tritone
Hi James, Apologies for this late response! The fascination will always be there, but the plans have changed somewhat, although they'll still take me to the water. The water will just be a bit bigger and sheets are involved. Best, Jack.
