Please help me find a 998R???? I have a 996R,999R,1098R, but no 998R. I know there has to be one out there for sale. Please????? Might trade guns for the right deal=)
I know of a one owner 998R Italian market bike. 683/700. The owner (me) took it out of the factory shipping crate himself June/2002. As of 9/15/2015 it has never been started or operated. Never had the battery installed. Has been sat on exactly twice. New condition in every way. The odometer shows 2 kilometers from rolling around the factory in Bologna. Also from pushing it into and out of a truck or van as it went from House 1 to House 2 to Office 1 to Office 2 and finally to Office 3. I'm the only person who has ever loaded it, moved it, unloaded it, etc. #683 as far as I know is the last new one. #001 was still new and on display for several years at the Ducati dealer in Rome. However I have been told that bike was sold and subsequently ridden. Maybe 13 years of repression is long enough. Feel free to make an offer. I'm not into firearms. call/text 206 369 4879 or [email protected] Image Unavailable, Please Login
None taken lol. At the time (6/2002) I actually bought 3 new ones. The other 2 I rode. One of them went to Japan quickly. The other I rode a lot (1100 kilos) and in 2004 a collector in the states bought it. He has never ridden it and still has it today. He will not let go trust me I have tried. I've owned/ridden a bazillion other 916-series bikes of every ilk. So its not like I've missed out. The never ridden bike or collector car with 90 miles never disappoints in creating controversy. I always say to each their own. I have enjoyed this bike every moment I've had it without ever turning it on one time. Hell I'm enjoying it right now haha. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You could say that about any art collection. My policy; never feel sorry for the guy that pays cash for a Ducati R bike
That's quite a collection of R bikes! I've had 998R 475/700 since new. I've put about 3,000 miles on it, great bike. Raced it once in CCS with track body work to keep the CF bodywork pristine. It took home a 1st on it's first and only outing. I understand only 50 998R's came into the US and they were for racers only. The Certificate of Origin said "For Competition use only, not for highway use". I retired it, put the CF bodywork back on along with some mirrors and blinkers and registered it in NJ. I could probably register a tank here! You should scoop up a nice SPS also, those are pretty special as well.
The only successful depiction of a PlayStation controller on a motorcycle ever. Lol. Good luck with the search. Not exactly growing on trees this model. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just saw your post. I have a 998R that I am interested in selling. Let me know if you are still interested. Came through Pro Italia in Glendale, CA
I have a thread in the classifieds but just in case this is better, I'm looking for a 998R. I seem to just miss them. A 996R works too. Condition is way more important than mileage. Thanks.
I forgot to update the thread. I did end up with a brand new 996R and near new 998R. John, I will try to call you this weekend to discuss yours. Image Unavailable, Please Login
