Hey all, my name is Carson and am clearly new to FerrariChat but very excited to be a part of the community! I'm very active on VWVortex and pretty much every BMW forum but just recently got the green light to get to work on my grandpa's 330 so I figured I'd better join some Ferrari forums asap! Little history on myself and the car, I've been a huge car guy forever and this car is what really made me a full blown petrol head. My grandpa bought this car in San Francisco in 1984 and took it on every trip until about the late '90s or so when it got put away and only brought out for car week here in Monterey. It's been restored once and has 84,000 miles on it. The car recently has been in the garage for the better part of 5 years as he has not retired yet and has also been in Arizona caring for his wife's mother and her husband. I brought up a crazy idea that I never thought he'd agree to but he did so the current plan is to have the car back on the road for August and I don't know what to expect along the way but I have a feeling that'll be a tall order to execute but this afternoon, we rolled the car out of the garage to see what it looked like to date and it's still as perfect and even more beautiful than I remember. Tires still look solid and under the hood, at least all the big visual stuff, looked to be in perfect shape also. I'll know for sure what we're dealing with in the coming weeks when I get underneath it and do some further examination! If anyone has any tips, shop recommendations, part contacts or the like, please PM me anytime as I know this will not be an easy task but one that we are more than willing to take on. Thanks ahead of time, as always, all comments, questions and other are encouraged, please be patient with replies though as I have not gone through anything on the car yet on a mechanical or identification level yet.

Wow what a sweet piece of machinery ;)
Nice it has been in the family a long time, and in your area lots of F car people.
Post a note in the subforum for 330 (vintage) and post a picture.
    Keep us updated.

Once you ride one of these early horses you may be hooked, they are very exciting machines. Unless you are an experienced mechanic with 60's cars you should take it to vintage Ferrari specialist before you try to start it. There is nothing magical about these engines but it could pay to get some expert advice. Who was servicing it before? that might be a good start.

Thank you guys for the welcome! I was noticing that there is a bunch of us around the SF bay area which should be awesome for us. It'll have it's own thread in the vintage section once real progress starts to happen. I honestly don't know where the car was serviced, I know where the paint and restoration was done but I was always too young to know/learn about the true mechanical side of it. We found a vintage road Ferrari specialist who I was led to by a shop where I just got on as an apprentice. We build, maintain and race pre 1980 F1 cars and can am's. It's all coming together so far, just waiting for that fork in the road that we always hit along the way!

Thanks guys, we found out that it will need a new clutch master cylinder and possibly need to be re-sleeved. It'll be going into a specialist most likely this week and I'll keep updating here and once actual work starts getting done, it'll have it's own thread!

Go buy a new battery . Take out all spark plugs. Then turn engine over this will oil up everything. This will help to avoid spinning a main bearing. Or a connecting rod bearing. The wire out of coil thr big one hi voltage one ground it to frame. The spark will go somewhere best to go to ground. Squirt some oil in cyl . Turn engine over some more. All new fuel be nice. It will start I hope. I'm not a real mechanic . Get advice from a real mechanic . I've had 3 ferraris . Ferraris got too valuable . The fun of speeding and going sideways on wet Seattle streets. Just cannot do it now . My 250gt had no muffler . I got old. Good luck George smith

In typical forum fashion, bumping my own 6.5 year old thread, with a rather sad update. I never thought to grab the chassis number but here's the scoop -

We got the brakes in working order, got the car idling normally, took it around the block twice, and then the car went back into "storage", never to be seen again. There was a small family falling out, (I was 19 when I started this thread and just kinda went with the flow and didn't think anything of it), and it is my interpretation that the car has been since sold somewhere between late '16 and early '18, but potentially as recently as '22.

My mother and myself have an understandably huge appreciation and attachment to this car and after digging through the registry, (thanks Marcel!), there are a handful of cars that stick out to me as bring it, one of which is wearing TX plates as of 08/19. We're not trying to buy the car back or anything like that, we just want to know that the car is still being enjoyed and would love to get the opportunity to see the car again in person someday.

I'm happy to discuss further details through PM's, and if a moderator wants to move this thread to the Vintage section, that would be fine by me. Good to be back in here either way, I guess I can finally restart my GranSport shopping!
