are killing me - bent rims all over the place - cant wait till the road are fixed
684 is horrible. They were filling pot holes on 287 east yesterday mid day. This is why I always get factory 17 inch wheels on my E classes. No 18's for me they bend and get wheel bubbles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
try an FF - snow and ice no problem. Potholes make it feel like the front end is going to come off range rover 20s are holding up surprisingly well
Triboro to lie is an absolute disaster Lie eastern queens to western nassau I saw 4 accidents I saw 2 blowouts on one of the cars This is seriously dangerous
The solution: chicken feathers! http://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/dollard-teen-discovers-pothole-solution
Having no water pass through and having "almost no water" pass through is a big difference. Even the slightest amount will crack the asphalt.
NJ TPK is a disaster FDR NB by Triboro should be used as a torture test for suspension by manufacturers The GCP EB has been milled from the Triboro to LGA. Its nice that they are repaving but right now its a warzone.
The roads are a disaster. Have you seen what the onramp from 84 to 684 looks like? Even the BRP is just a magles mess. hard to think where one might have some drving fun. Was on 84 west of the river, surface was baby smooth. Anybody been on the merritt lately?
It is perfect both ways from NY border to Exit 35. Above Exit 36 is not great because of construction (especially around the New Canaan rest stop) and because that road is more heavily traveled by the New Haven County work crowd of immense traffic coming daily to work where jobs exist.
GCP in Fresh Meadows, Queens area like a minefield. Lots of weaving going on to avoid them. What a mess.
The area of GCP by LGA that was repaved last summer held up through winter, but the section near Citi Field and the Queens Museum is mostly a war zone with few lane markings remaining.
Got 2 bent rims by lga a few years ago with 16 inch rims on my 325; other vehicles were damaged also. Yesterday on route 100 in somers the Mobil gas station had a new ghibli with 2 blown out tires. In downstate NY we have the roads of a third world country-Top gear should do a show on it....
I just took the 430 out for gas. First time out since December and it might have been the most stressful ride I've ever taken in it. Between avoiding craters and puddles I couldn't wait to get home lol.
We can all stipulate that our roads are horrible and that we are bending and breaking a lot of equipment. The serious issue to consider is that, with all of the economic, political and business acumen in this group, how do we come together and improve this?
Obviously nobody is really interested in taking on the construction companies who get these lucrative road contracts every year. The same companies who use crappy material to guarantee more work next year!
I just popped 2 f****** tires on my ML. I can't believe it. I wasn't even going that fast and both passenger side tires are done. Now I have to do 4 because of the 4matic and the 20k miles on the other 2. I hate this mother f in winter already.
If your good tires still have good tread depth, you might look into exact match used tires from a reputable tire dealer at a fraction of the cost of new, like J&M in Southington, CT. These are not $5 specials in the ghetto, they are good tires with at least half tread depth left, mounted and balanced properly. They can match the brand and model and the tread depth could be close to your other two. I think this is the dealer I used to buy 4 tires for my ML a few years ago just before lease turn in when I knew the tires on the vehicle were below acceptable tread depth. Mercedes accepted the used tires without question and I saved about $800 compared to returning a lease vehicle with brand new tires. Just a thought.
