    just purchased a 1992 porsche 968. while cosmetically the car is in mint condition. i would like to get the car mechanically as perfect as possible. so if anyone can point me in the direction of a competent shop that works on older porsches i would greatly appreciate it..

    Might be a bit far for you but PowerTech in Rockaway, NJ is excellent.

    Where are you located? My top recommendations are Rennwerke Porsche in Elmsford and Formula Motorsports in LIC right by the 59th st bridge.

    No question...Manhattan Motorsports in Roslyn...ask for Bobby Singh.
    His shop is full of all types of exotics and he is a Porsche lover and expert.

    Lynmor Motorsport is the best place foe any Porsche.
    They are located right in Huntington Station.

    thanks for all the suggestions.
    i have sent the car to Rudtners racing inc. in freeport.
    Bill the owner seems like a knowledgeable guy. we'll see how it goes.
    i really want to get all the services done, and go over all the mechanicals. that way i have a clear baseline going foward.

    That's funny... I just noticed this thread today and was going to suggest Bill Rudtner in Freeport. He used to work on my '84 911. He was always fair. Not the fanciest place but he very much knows his stuff. I also remember back then he was a pretty avid racer.

    I had the car serviced at a dealership and 2 months later needed valve work. Bill rebuilt the upper end, new high performance cam, valves. Big improvement.

    My 96 Twin is at Bills now the silver one - Formula I would stay away from two bad experiences there
