Has anyone heard anything about this project: Welcome to M1 Concourse - The Ultimate Car Enthusiast Destination Lots of buzz. Sounds awesome. They don't mention exact location.
Sounds cool but somehow I have my doubts it will happen. Surprisingly the "Motor City" has been unable to support such things in the past. This thing sounds way too big and way too expensive to be true. I wonder what investors could be behind this? It has to be someone with very deep pockets. (I'm not going to speculate)
Is this your project I assume? So along Woodward I'd think you would need an area with lots of land that isn't too expensive. This would be a good project for something to take up lots of land in Pontiac. It would be easier to deal with noise issues as well.
Actually it looks like it has been shot down numerous times: Anatomy of a Public Scandal: The Attempts to Introduce Auto Racing at the Michigan State Fairgrounds
Or how about this property, it already has parking structures and I bet you could get it real cheap. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very interesting... But I am highly skeptical this is a real possibility. Where could his be? Most of Woodward in Oakland county is fully developed and running through communities that would NEVER allow a racetrack even if there were room for such a facility. The only place it might be possible would be the outskirts of Pontiac.
Quite true. Detroit is MORE broke. And destined for bankruptcy. Bwaaa-ha-ha that's a good one there! We all know that property.
You guys are such sleuths. No one can hide from you. Guess I should have changed my user name to ask the question anonymously Was trying to test the market mainly to see what response would be in the small group of local Ferrari guys. I guess I piqued your interest though.... Stay tuned for more info soon on the exact location. This is a real project with great momentum.
brad: i figure the location has to be pontiac. probably by the old gm plant. good luck with your project.
It does sound like a really cool project - best of luck, hope it succeeds, then maybe you can bring another location to Chicago
I think you should have a "build thread" on here about it. That's the best way to promote something. Look at Jim G's original P4/5 thread, other people's garge threads, that sweet twin turbo Testarossa thread. In fact, you could ask us questions as you go along too and we can chime in. Kind of like a co-creation of value approach. And if you want momentum, why don't you tell us more abou it? Most of us pretty much do car stuff every single weekend during the summer. If we think its a great idea, we will talk about it I'm certain.
Yeah, I found your name and your occupation in the first five minutes. I have been researching similar projects; sorry, it just isn't cost effective. Actually a partner and I were thinking of classic car storage, with bays for light mechanic work, a clubhouse with big screen TV and poker and pool tables and of course girls in bikini's to wash the cars. Unfortunately market research shows guys won't pay over $200.00/month. Oh, we have a race track here in the Detroit area. Crap, it has been there 53 years and people don't even know it exisists, for a city that calls themselves the "Motor City" they do a poor job of supporting the car hobby. if it wasn't for the Dream Cruise we would have NOTHING.
The beauty of public filings and the internet. Will definitely keep you posted and appreciate your input after we officially announce later this year. My research shows promise for what we are working on, but we shall see. Take it easy. Perhaps we can all meet up at Autozone sometime this summer.
