At least a dozen elite sports cars clocked at 'well over' 100 mph on I-394 | Star Tribune
A completely predictable event. All those "traffic-cams" in the metro area are there for a reason. This group has been working hard at destroying the image of exotic car owners. From the tone of the comments I read, it's working. I'm surprised only that it didn't happen sooner.
Judging by the one photo there was a fair amount of traffic present. Not that it is really ever a good idea to be traveling perhaps 50 mph faster than the flow of inattentive drivers but there are better and worse times and places to speed. Looks to me like these guys were in at least moderate traffic, near an interchange where others will be maneuvering and hence asking for it. Some exotic car owners do a fine job of making a spectacle of themselves, it seems often enough in those Easter egg colors too.
Not how I'd prefer getting my name in the newspaper. Exotic car club members among 12 drivers accused of reckless driving - StarTribune.com
Glad to hear. The way your post read it sounded like your name was in the list. I had to check to verify.
It's an exclusive club that to be invited you need to pass the test. The test is finding the group on Facebook and selecting join group. I love the crack reporters churching things up. For the record I had the MNExotics long before that group formed.
...or who their Daddy is! My coworkers have had a lot of fun with this story - giving me plenty of ribbing.
It was all in good fun - they knew I had nothing to do with that. I do think the Strib is going overboard with their coverage. Not good what these folks did, but boy, did they pile it on.
I expect even more as the cases wind through courts. If it sells newspapers or attracts viewers to the 10:00 news they will keep it going. Of course everyone with a sports car is "rich" and obviously isn't paying their "share".
You would expect that on a Ferrari forum people would understand that regardless of age things can be achieved. Im not 24 but I did have minor exotics at 24 like a Lotus, now im 32 with a Ferrari Cali T, X5M and Lamborghini. There are plenty of guys on the Lambo forum in their mid 20's but I think Lamborghini generally has younger drivers than Ferrari does. Also the one that is 24 was driving a GTR, those can be had for 60K. Spendy for 24, but certainly achievable.
I got my Scud together with an M6, 3 Corvettes and a 675LT, for a drive last fall in Iowa. We hit about 150 MPH at one point. We have these nice cars that go fast but no where to enjoy them. The round track is just not my idea of fun. Legall one cop can only pull over one car.
No question about that. But regarding the topic at hand, in my experience, mature legitimate self-made drivers seem to know there is a time and place for this sort for driving.
