If I had chosen to not work for a day and a half I would have spent the day with my wife and children but in this case I didn't get either.

His rear tires were at the end due to a bad alignment i guess and I even offered him tires at cost to help him out. I must be an idiot.
How about this...you work on my Ferrari for free and I will spend time with your family.

I'm always wary of people who threaten a lawsuit. I think it reflects on a persons character.

I'm no legal expert, but the definitions of "libel" and "defamation" seem to result from use of false or untrue statements...

I hope I don't see this thread in the future. :-)

Curt, I think Sean and I saw you this morning on our way to church. You turned on to Whipple.

Is that a threat? Should I sue you? Maybe I can use Kevin's attorney and get some kind of discount.

You know I was thinking.. I'm actually impressed that a Mechanics Lien wasn't issed. ;-) Doesn't sound like it was. That alone attests to the decency of Karl's shop.

That's what I was thinking, the car can't be legally sold until the lien is paid off with interest owed and fees.

Looks like Rennlist took it down.

This situation reminds me of when we stopped for gas at a local marina this summer. We went in to pay and saw a dishonored check for $256 displayed prominently on the counter. We knew the check writer (manager of a high line car dealership) and just shook our heads in amazement.

Really? Your credentials include things in the future? So you are STUDYING the cfa exam but do not yet have your CFA designation?
You aren't licensed by the SEC yet? REALLY????

In my limited legal knowledge I thought it was actually illegal to threaten suit without following through. Sue him back for not suing you when he doesn't sue.

No, it's not illegal here. It is, however, poor form.

I was really disapointed I thought the bill was going to be 20 to 30k but $1376 come on pay the bill and if you are not satisfied find another shop to take your car to. Repeat business and word of mouth is essential to a repair shop. There are always two sides to every story.
+1...the amount of money we're talking is not worth all of this. $1400 bucks??

I usually keep my nose clear of these, but...$1400 buck?? Really???

Is this a joke? I got an email from Kevin inviting me to a party...

"Kevin N. Hedges, Managing Partner & Lisa Pansing, Ownership Representative invited you to
The Fall Mix Cocktail Party - RSVP Only

Thursday, November 10, 2011
6:30 PM - 10:30 PM

WHERE:
An 1844 Antebellum Mansion
47 Smith Street
Charleston SC 29401"

I feel my privacy has been invaded by Kevin obtaining my email, and then using it to promote his firm. Any attorneys on here? It's an unwanted solicitation...how should I respond to make sure I NEVER get another email from him?

My Garage
He sent me SPAM for almost a year before I finally marked it as a spam sender in Gmail. Absolutely unsolicited. I think he mines the FCA membership emails.

Gil, you should go and consume $1000.- worth of food and drinks. Another friend of mine on F chat got the same invite. He asked me if I wanted to be his date, lol.

Daniel, that is why real professionals do not pursue their potential clients. After 20 yrs in my own shop I have learned that if someone has been smart enough and successful enough to finally own a fancy car, I owe them the courtesy of choosing where to take it for repair and not hound them to come to me. If a loved needed to have surgery for a life threatening illness would you want the doctor that knocks on your door and says "please let me do it, please. I'll save you a bunch of money over the other guy and I'm really good"
That's creepy if you ask me.
In our case, it's our website and word of mouth thanks to so many friends and clients and it works just fine.

Karl
