https://www.facebook.com/events/522864564475562/permalink/530296517065700/ Just saw this on Facebook from a fellow SCCA autocrosser. This will be on the last Saturday of the month starting in January 2014. Location is on Garners Ferry Road, parking lot in between the Target, Starbucks, and Panera Bread, so multiple sources of coffee! Maybe not quite the population like Charlotte Cars and Coffee or the one I went to in Carlsbad CA once, but nice to have something here in the middle of SC too. For now I'm planning to go with my Fiat 500 Abarth, hope to see a good number of folks help get this off the ground, and behave responsibly.
This would be nice for a decent drive on a Saturday! I know that area and it is a nice size parking lot and that Panera gives great service. Thanks for letting us know about it. Deiger
UPDATE: Apparently the location just changed to the Columbia Quaker Steak and Lube. More info at the Facebook link above for Cars and Coffee.
Reminder that Columbia C&C kicks off this Saturday JAN 15th, 8am at Quaker Steak and Lube. This is just off of I-20 eastern side of town, near the Tower Harley Davidson dealer. While the restaurant doesn't do breakfast, they will be serving coffee and biscuits for sale. Other than that, just down the road at the I-20 Clemson Road exit are both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts too. I'll be there with my Rosso Fiat Abarth, trying to keep warm! Bob Nixon
Going to have to take a rain check on this. Will definitely try to make it on a future date. Good luck! Deiger
Despite the cold they had a huge turnout, the C&C folks stated they had 471 cars. I was only there from about 9-10 and spotted a Ferrari 360 headed that way when I left. Lots of Mustangs and Corvettes. I did a short write up and put a few photos on my blog Nixon Motor Sports
Bob, The address for the Quaker Steak and Lube is 941 Spears Creek Ct, Columbia, SC 29045 Just off I-20 at the Spears Creek Church exit. Also in the parking around Tower Harley Davidson.
The Columbia Cars and Coffee folks just announced that they are moving the location to the Village at Sandhill. Next event is February 22nd.
The website for the Cars and Coffee Columbia is https://www.facebook.com/events/572559889481394/ It sounds as if there will be a great turnout. I hope to see everyone there!
Your Mondial looked great too. A true family Ferrari with child seat in the rear!! It was great meeting you. Sorry I could not say goodbye but I had to be back by a certain time. Hope you found your friend. The good news is that it was a fabulous day. I drove down on the Interstate but came back on two lane roads through Monroe. Great roads and not much traffic. Got to play a little. Bad new is that we were the only exotic cars there. I arrived around eight and left at 10:15. No Porsches, no Lambo's and very little that was interesting. Lots of late model Camaro's and Mustangs and tons of ricer cars. Not sure if I would go back unless the mix changes. I did meet an interesting 21 year old. He is finishing up his studies this spring at USC majoring in finance. He has been brokering cars since he was 15. He has a twin turbo 430 and drove a GT-R to the event. At first I was thinking this could not be true but the more I talked with him, the more I could see that he was very knowledgeable and very mature for his years. And everybody seemed to know him. Bright guy!! He and some of his buddies had wrenched all night on a Subaru STI installing a very sophisticated suspension made by the company Tenn. It has small motors on the shocks with sensors to detect G loads. It has two programs-one for adjusting the shocks based on the G forces and another to adjust them using GPS and based on speed. This last mode firms up the shock at higher speeds and softens them at lower speeds for a more comfortable ride around town. They finished the suspension work at 7:00AM this morning and drove directly to the event. True car guys!!! You're welcome!! An unusual car there was this 1972 Toyota Corolla. May be the finest Corolla around. The wine red metallic Corvette C7 looked great. For us sports car lovers there was a Lotus Elise. And this old hot rod had a cool look. The '40 Ford was all stock with a flathead V8 and stock interior. The Columbia folks have stated that this event will be the last Saturday of each month, so in March it should be the 29th.
They have continued with big turnouts at Sandhill, although it's mostly Camaro/Mustang/Corvette from what I have seen.
Seems like most C&C events I have attended are filled with the Mustang/Camaro crowd. Lots of imports too. The last one I went to here in Fayetteville/Hope Mills had a few interesting cars though. Wish I were a bit closer. 471 cars is HUGE!!! We were closer to 100 here. PDG
