    I've been accepted to compete in the Ultimate Track Car Challenge at VIR on Friday July 17th. Some of the fastest track cars in the country will be represented. I'll be there in my trusted daily driver, the old X5. No chance of winning the event but it should put on a good show.

    You may not win overall but I'll bet you will win your class. If I remember correctly there are some prizes out there based on marque as well. Good luck, please keep us updated! You should get GJ to with you and take his M coupe.

    Ha. Not sure they have an SUV class, lol. My brother Martin just got GJs engine back together and running today

    Keith. It is run on a Time Trial basis. One warmup session and three timed sessions. Since you're sharing the track with others, the objective is to get a clean and fast lap. Your fastest lap in the three sessions counts. If you put 4 wheels off in any session you're DQed. Your car can be as prepared as you want it to be. I ran against mostly full blown race cars on slicks and roll cages.

    Of course I finished at the back but beat a number of cars including this one. Supercharged M3 powered E30 on slicks.

    Thanks for posting Karl, what a great event. Look forward to reading about you in Grassroots Motorsports. If they have a vintage class I may give it a go next year in the 911.

    My pleasure Keith.
    To offer a little perspective about the competition. The winning car was a Didge Viper that recently not only raced in the 24hrs of LeMans but led it's class for 23hrs until they suffered gearbox issues.
