Have been thinking about buying a 348 leaning toward Coupe, having sold my 308, GT4 and Mondial. I drove one at a dealer in FL but it was a beater and it put me off 348s. But I think perhaps that was the car not the model ... if any 348 owner would be so kind as to let me "ride along" on this weekend's event that would give me a good second opinion.

    Plan B is a Gallardo!

Wow; those cars are really different; the Gallardo is a decade newer in technology and probably $30K more. A 430 (3 generations later) is probably more comparable. My impression of driving the Gallardo coupe was that it felt like a really fast, harder edged Audi TT. Lacked the feeling of occasion of a Ferrari.

Trying to avoid cars that can only be serviced by Ferrari dealers and with very limited parts cross reference. Rules out pretty much any Ferrari post 348.

Not sure that's the case. Where are you located? In Portland, there's an independent--The Jag Shop--and I don't think that there's been a major parts-sourcing issue. Others are welcome to chime in their experiences which may be different from mine.
