I am selling my 1967 Fiat Dino Spyder 2L. The particulars are at: Other Makes Dino Spider Roadster | eBay
Probably because this ad is under Ferraris section vs. Other Cars section, where any car that is not a Ferrari should be, even if it starts with an F, such as Fiat, Ford, Fisker. I can guess somebody is going to argue that it doesn't matter that it's a Fiat, it's based on who made the engine? Well that would be more of a stretch than the other Dino debate.
If you want to get technical, Mr. Know It All, then NO Dino should be posted in this section. But, I'm sure you wouldn't want that - horrors.
Now that FIAT pretty much completely owns Ferrari - I guess this section should really be titled FIATs for sale anyway. BTW, when the 308s came out, we old guys in this hobby called then glorified FIATs. Again - the horror of it all. BTW - I love Fiat Dinos. Bruce Trennery at Fantasy Junction used to call me the FD King. So yeah, I have an ax to grind with this poster.
I agree. A "Dino" listed for sale in the Ferrari section with no mention of Fiat in the title. Thread moved and title corrected.
What malarkey. It has a Ferrari engine and when I competed at car shows my Dino was up against Ferrari 246 models not Fiats (and I won). Moreover, many Dino 206 engines carry the Fiat stamp on the block. But whatever. AJ
Easy there. A Fiat Dino is not a Ferrari Dino. Then again, a Ferrari Dino is really only a Dino, not a Ferrari Dino at all. EXCEPT FOR THE ID placard on the driver's door jam, which clearly has a Ferrari horsie on it and the word, "Ferrari" which the Fiat Dino does not have. It ain't a Ferrari. It is, however, a beautiful Fiat Dino you're selling, with tons of good work done to make it a top notch (if looks are not deceiving) example. I have not followed the Fiat Dino market, but if your price is indicative of the current values, then I'm pissed that I passed on the sub $40K ones I looked at a few years ago. Best of luck with the sale, hope you get your asking number. D
Poor guy already has been kicked-around, now this? Not his fault you have not keep current with this market....but I understand as this is a Fiat, not Ferrari......you are the one missing-out. Cool cars, Jack
Regardless of how you speak of it or name it in an adver, what a great looking 2 liter spider! My best friend had one in that color years ago, and he currently has a Fiat 124 in the color. That blue is much prettier in person, and it already looks pretty in your photos! How awesome. The 2.4 is a great car, but don't discount the 2 litre. The engine is so amazingly smooth, and while markedly less "torquey" than a 2.4, it has a charm and powerband that's usable and exciting. The sound of either is on par with the world's best engines, and winding through the gears when the top is down is an aural joy. Good luck selling your car - the owner will be spoiled in Dino-ness! Here is the exact car for sale in a National Concours and placed in the Dino section. Owner in the background Image Unavailable, Please Login
C'mon Scott, give it a rest. At the New Hope Concours, my Dino was sandwiched between a hopped up 308 and a gorgeous Daytona, doesn't make my Dino either one of those. Doesn't matter, the car is beautiful, and if I had the dough I'd buy it tomorrow. Dave
I made no claims, just presenting facts from my camera as I have personally seen this car and wanted to relay that image. You're reading too much into if you are projecting anything else. Happy Holidays!
imho I like the 2.4; but, prefer the 2.0 because I like the knockoff hubs, Aluminum Engine Block, and driving character of the live rear axle. Also, the 2.0 is 200 pounds lighter (2535 Vs 2734).
