WTB: 96-97 BMW e36 M3 Luxury Package 5-speed manual Low miles Great condition Preferably white Long shot, but I'm trying to help my friend locate this car. His name is Phil and can be reached by email at [email protected] Thanks
That's going to be a tough car to find. I was searching for one a while back. Enthusiast Auto Group gets nice examples but charges a fortune. Good luck. Scott
A nationwide search of Autotrader shows 14, only one with less than 50K miles. Red with a sport pkg, so few and far between.
Have '95, black on black, strong, solid, sinister. The ultimate driving machine? certainly for the $$$.
E36s are fantastic driving cars that are easy to maintain. It'll always be overshadowed by the holy grail E30 but that's ok, it keeps the E36 values in check...the only problem is locating a car that hasn't been poorly modified. I own an Estoril Blue/Dove Gray '97 M3/4/5 with the Sport package that I adore. Good luck on your search!
Yes, this has been one difficult car for my friend to find. He had 2 years ago and now really regrets letting them go. Thanks for the good wishes on the search.
The e46 is such a better car for the money. Go either M3 or ZHP. I had a Dinan-equipped '95 M3. Loved it. But my wife's e46 330i was about as fast. I'd love a 2005/2006 330ic ZHP if I could find a decent one.
OP, is your friend still looking? I frequent quite a few BMW forums and wouldn't mind keeping an eye out.
I just sold my 1999 E36 M3. Great car. Only 56,000 miles on it. I sold the car back to the guy I bought it from (who originally bought it from my Dad), and we have a gentleman's agreement that I have first right of refusal if he sells it again.
I get it. I have a 98 M3/4 manual, BMW individual color (Avus blue exterior), that has about 36K miles (yes, I know it isn't a Ferrari, but I am kind of trying to preserve it). I don't drive it much, but every time I do it puts a big smile on my face.
The only thing to be weary of are the underside panels in the nose of the car. There are three plastic shield pieces and without them the car runs like crap. They crack/break very easily and to replace them is around $300. I was swapping them out every few months due to the roads in Houston. In the end, I got handy with a drill and tie-wraps.
LOL. Mine ripped off once when I was doing a low altitude run from phx to san diego. I remember pulling into the gas station in yuma and hearing it dragging on the ground. I pull in reach under the car start cussing and start ripping it off from the bottom of the car (its was about midnight or so so no garges no lifts to use etc...) I was probably 20... the family at the pump next to me thought i was insane... At 20 years old... I probably was LOL I can't believe you are seeking a luxury pack car. No one WANTS a luxury package car... you just end up with one... LOL. Do you not like the "vader" seats?
As the OP says its not for me...its for my friend. I've never even seen one of these cars. Its funny you say no one wants a luxury package car....he said the same thing. That virtually nobody would intentionally order what he's looking for....and laughs at himself. What can I say, he had 2 of them years ago and wants another.
Enthusiast Auto Group in Ohio stocks a strong selection of M cars. Probably worth checking in with them and letting them know your needs.
You'll pay the absolute top of the market going through EAG but they know their M cars and always sell top notch examples. I love browsing their website on a regular basis.
