The only Italian cars that I own are four Innocenti Spyders. I suspect there are about 20 of them in the US. Would love to know if anyone else on the board has one or who has even heard of them.

The Innocenit Spyder is a version of the Austin Healey Sprite made in Italy under the Innocenti name and designed by Ghia and built by OSI. Back when Austin Healey was making the bugeye - Innocenti beat them to a square bodied car and it is still more roomy and luxurious than anything from BMC.

Although the car shares the same unibody tub and drivetrain, the exterior panes, rear suspension and electrics are all of Italian design.

I hope to finish the restoration of my silver spyder this winter.

That is a beautiful car and I am sure your other ones are also.

If you ever decide to find a future custodian for 1 of your 4 in the future............keep me in mind. :)

Not sure if anyone reading this, after 3 years but I have just bought an Innocenti C which was the later, coupe version of the Spider.

I have a college friend from Wallingford, CT who has owned one or two-I think he's sold them off though.

An article in the new issue of Auto Italia mentions that the Innocenti Spyders were built by OSI, fyi.

Hi. It is April, 2014 and I just got an Innocenti S spyder. My registration says it is a 1960 but I know they did not make them till 1961. Mine has disc brakes in front. I have two questions: 1. Is there a source of vehicle identification numbers where I can check the actual year of my car? 2. I assume my car is negative ground. Is this correct? Thanks. Dudley Haines

The article in "Classic & Sportscar" June 1997 says:

By the end of 1961 BMC had despatched 3000 kits (to OSI/Innocenti), yet only 1993 Spiders had been built, meaning 1000-odd kits were in stock or on the lines. In 1962, 2160 furthier kits were sent out and procuction was uppped from 1988 units to 2591, but that still left over 500 kits at OSI. In 1963, again over 2000 kits were despatched, yet production slumped to 1183 units. Things were getting out of control, and 1964 shipments dropped to 288 kits. By the end of 1964, therefore a total of 7680 kits been shipped, but only 6794 cars made. Sales had collapsed, and in 1965 only 63 Spiders were turned out, meaning 823 kits were gathering dust. etc etc etc

The article in Italian Cars magazine (#13 1993) says"

For numbers enthusiast we record that the 950 - official designation S32/1 - was first produced in December 1960 (chassis number 100.005) and continued to be built until February 1963 (chassis number 104.794).......the chassis numbers of the Innocenti S ranged from 300.001 (February 1963) to 302.074 (February 1965).

You may be able to figure out the production year on your car based on these numbers.

    Hello all
I am looking for a right hand side window winder mechanism for a 1968 Innocenti C. I guess it will be the same as for the S.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Well done on your purchases Steve and Mark.
Mark, yours looks like the white C that used to be owned by Barry Lowe in UK. Lovely car.
