Yesterday I attended a car show in Nyköping, South of Stockholm, Sweden in my Maserati QP-1. In the meeting there was a car I have never seen before. A Moretti Sportiva. I fell in love! Beautiful car, like a half scale dino. After the meeting I did some research and found out that appx 300 cars were procuced in the late 60's, and ony 25-30 are belived to survive. I asked the owner, in his 80's if he would sell the car to me. Answer: Not as long as I can manage to get in to it! How much would a car like this be Worth in good condition? Correct me if i'm wrong but in a way it looks like a Ferrari Dino.. Especially the front and rear lines. Best
Stunning little cars and very reminiscent of the Dino. It would be interesting to find out the time lines and see what was built first, the Sportiva or Dino.
Absolutely. I'd say it looks even more like a Fiat Dino Spyder. Too bad this little beauty didn't get the Dino V6 - man oh man, would I love to see this thing in my garage...a definite beauty! Must be a Pininfarina design, is that the case?
I read on the internet somewhere ( if it's on the net it's Always true) that the design was by Michelotti and the car was shown publically in the summer of -66 and the dino in nov-66.
Very cool cars, but sooo small I tried to sit in one once , I was 6" too tall There are a few of them floating around the LA area and a guy up in Washington state recently sold a pair Has a little De Tomaso in it Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They pop up on bringatrailer.com every now and then, so doing a search there might give you some good information. Here, I did it for you! Search Results moretti
That 3rd pic brings it all back in a hurry. We used to pull the engines out of our fiat 850s on skateboards. The engine out on an Fcar isn't quite as easy-but at least Enzo included oil filters on his cars! These are flipping sweet-and I thought moretti was just a beer! The nose has a little maser birdcage in it-
Moretti actually existed for quite a long time and built a large variety of really beautiful little cars. This Sportiva for me definitively ranks amongst their best efforts, but how did they manage to build so many different bodies in such small numbers? Best, Jack.
isnt that merkels car? he's 6'ish and has no problem fitting it. pretty cool car as we took a spin through the caynons near his home.
Exactly two years to the day I first saw it, I bought it! It has been with an elderly owner for the past 15 years and two years ago it was not for sale. Now with some health issues he was more motivated to sell. It is not so easy to find information about these cars on the internet. I have still not been able to find out how many that was produced. The only figure is appx 300 cars. How many of the first or second series is not stated. Does anyone have more information about the sportiva?
Merkel once told me "The Sportiva is a beautiful car, but never park one next to a Dino. It suddenly looks not so beautiful because the Dino is perfect."
