That is sad. :( They had some very nice designs.

Why can't someone like Mansory go bust instead?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

That's really sad ,particularly at a time when design houses seem to be gaining some strength.

Nothing new since December 2013, I post already about this fact.

This is the reason why the Ferruccio's day event in Italy had to modified its agenda, initialy a Bertone visit was plan for the event, but the curator cancelled all the appointments & visits... as I was involved with the contact person at Bertone.

What makes me more sad is the potential lost of Bertone Museo whose cars & prototypes may be sold to cover losts.

Rappers/Hip Hop keep companies Mansory alive. More money than taste unfortunately.

You are absolutely right. In my opnion Mansory guys don't have a clue about designing. The only thing they care of is profit, profit and profit. They recently ruined a 458 by designing it to look alike a Ferrari Enzo.

    Totally fail...

What a damn shame. I've been there several times and always met by fine, gracious folks. Bertone always gave cars a certain distinctive look. Seems there would be a market for that in a world with a lot of bland cars.

Or someone acquire them and keep them as a wholly owned sub. The brand still has cachet.

Very sad. Bertone is engraved in my mind - I saw the emblem nearly every day as we owned a Fiat X1/9.

I think they've been attempting just that for several years. Just selling the name to someone else isn't necessarily "bringing them back either".

Even if the assembly quality was "less than" certainly the designs were spectacular.

The main accountable is Fiat: in the '60s they decided to redirect their coupès and spiders to PF and Bertone. PF and Bertone enlarged their plants becoming medium producers till in the early '90s, when Fiat decided to stop the market niche. So PF and Bertone got behind in an uncomprehensible ( for them) global market, surviving a little, but forgetting that the coachbuilders era closed 20 years before. In the '00s they had the opportunity to change the direction becoming a style studio for the third parts, but they didn't take this opportunity: lack of vision? lack of enthusiasm? lack of money? whatever! It was too late and this is the result today, sadly.

A shame. I'm reminded of Bertone (Gandini) design every time I see their logo on my Alfa Montreal.
